Ciao! I'm Isabella. Welcome to Venice and my ToursByLocals page! I was born in Padua in 1965 but I've lived in Venice for 40 years. I moved to Venice to attend college and settled down. After graduation in Anglo American literature I worked for the International Movie Festival, at the bookstore of Venice Civic Museums and for a while I devoted myself to teaching. In 1998 I approached tourism and got specialized in cruise excursions. A few years later I became a professional guide and decided to customize tours for private clients. I love food and cooking and that's why when touring I always talk about local specialties and culinary traditions. After many years I still get excited about my adoptive city. I'm very happy when I see people enjoying the time together and get dazzled by Venice beauty! A private boat ride along the Grand Canal with St George tower and the Jewish Ghetto
Overview of your Venice tour
Enjoy Venice from the water perspective! It is not possible to walk along the Grand Canal as Venetians never added a waterfront. The only way to admire the palaces lined up along its banks is by boat. This tour offers a unique opportunity to enjoy some wonderful views over the city cruising its waterways for a couple of hours. We stop at St George island to reach the top of the tower and enjoy an amazing view over the lagoon and the Adriatic Sea. Depending on time and your preferences we can include a stroll in the Jewish quarter.

We toured with Isa from Tours By Locals on 22 August 2025. Isa met us at the Quay San Basilo terminal (for small cruise ships). Isa and boat driver met us at the terminal and provided 2.5 hour tour ending at the Marco Polo airport. Isa was exceptional from the planning, quoting and execution of our tour of Venice. We were able to use a water taxi for most of the tour and was able to adapt for one of our group who had to use a cane to walk a loop around St. Marcos square. We found Isa knowledgable, kind and an excellent communicator. The boat taxi driver was great as well. I would highly recommend Isa.

Your Venice tour itinerary
-We leave San Marco and cruise along the rio dei Greci on our way to San Giovanni and Paolo and rio dei Mendicanti to the north of the lagoon. -Our view opens up before we reach the narrow canals of Cannaregio distric. -We stop at the Jewish Ghetto for a stroll. -At San George island we take a lift to the tower. -Along the rio de San Trovaso we see one of the last gondola yards Time, local traffic rules or the tide may affect the above itinerary. From November to March the tower on St George island closes at 6 pm From April to October the tower is open untill 7 pm.
