Ciao! My name is Giuseppina, I was born in Venice and I have lived here almost all my life, in a house a few steps from Piazza San Marco, next to the opera house. Since I was little I have always been surrounded by culture and art; my father took me to see an opera when I was 5 years old, I studied ballet for many years and I fell in love with beauty since childhood. Working as a guide in my city is the best thing that could happen to me: Venice is unique in every sense: for its history, for its geographical conformity, for its position, and I love explaining to my guests why it is so particular; I do it during walks between a coffee and an ice cream, I love showing museums and sites of interest without lecturing, but with the hope that those who listen to me will fall in love with the place they are visiting as it happened to me. Plus, Venice is a city that is still alive, and I like to show aspects of daily life: my satisfaction is that my guests feel like Venetians during their stay. Overview of your Venice tour
Venice is an open-air museum: only by walking it's possible to understand the differences from all other places in the world. Getting lost in the intricate streets, admire the hidden architectural jewels built in this town, learning anecdotes and curiosities of the ancient Venetian society: that's what we want from a walk among friends into the heart of town. As I was born and still living here, I will most likely meet acquaintances and friends as I take you off the beaten path; we'll probably end up drinking a coffee together, or an ice cream; certainly at the end of the tour you will have discovered a Venice you never imagined. We requested a relaxed, exclusive tour covering some history highlights and also a glimpse of the everyday Venetian life. Giuseppina delivered both. She is local and lives in close proximity of our hotel. They all know her and she knows all. Enlightening to share the neighborly feeling. Her knowledge of the history of St. Marks Basilica was astonishing. Her overview of Venetian history was fascinating. She “talked us” into visiting Murano and Burano and we loved it. •We'll meet in our agreed location, such as the hotel in the city centre or S. Mark Square, then we'll touch some landmarks: •Campo S. M. Formosa, where you'll see the first venetian signs of life, so close to the main square •Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo, with the beautiful Scuola Grande di San Marco, the domenican church and the statue of Colleoni, made by the master of Leonardo da Vinci, Verrocchio. •The breathtaking view of the northern side of the lagoon, Fondamente Nove, with its with its melancholic and romantic skyline of the northern islands of the lagoon. •The cute Chiesa dei Miracoli, where all brides want to marry •Marco Polo's house site, one of our most important citizens ever! •Tour will end at Rialto bridge which crosses the Grand Canal, not before we had a break for a good coffee/gelato/spritz
