Explore Turin your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Turin tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Turin for every interest, including:

History tours: Trace the House of Savoy with your guide at Palazzo Reale and Palazzo Madama, then step into the Italian unification rooms at the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento in Palazzo Carignano. On these history tours you can also walk sections of the Turin Underground tunnels and visit the Museo Diffuso della Resistenza to connect real neighbourhoods to WWII stories.

Food and Drink tours: Browse Porta Palazzo market with a shopper’s basket, tasting toma, seasonal truffles, and your guide’s favourite produce stands. Sip a classic bicerin at Caffè Al Bicerin, sample gianduiotti at a family chocolatier, and compare vermouths during an aperitivo tour through the Quadrilatero Romano or the San Salvario neighbourhood.

Architecture tours: Study Guarini and Juvarra’s Baroque designs at San Lorenzo, Palazzo Madama, and the Basilica di Superga, then ride the lift at the Mole Antonelliana for that striking skyline view. These architecture tours can also include a walk on the Pista 500 atop Lingotto and a look at Liberty-era façades along Via Pietro Micca and the porticoed arcades on Via Po.

The historic centre is very walkable, and trams plus Metro Line 1 make it easy to reach sights like Lingotto, Porta Susa, and the Mole; your guide can help you use tickets and validate them correctly.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Turin inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Turin

From Turin, you can branch out to nearby cities, lake towns, and mountain valleys, and if you like day trips and tours, this region keeps things close and easy.

- Langhe wine hills (Barolo and Barbaresco): rolling vineyards, small villages, and views that keep changing as you drive, plus cellar tastings and simple trattoria lunches. Your tour can focus on wine, truffles in season, or quiet hilltop viewpoints if you want a slower pace.

- Lake Maggiore and Stresa: a classic lakefront walk, cafés by the water, and clear views of the Alps, with time to hop a local boat across the bay if you feel like it. Your tour can balance town time in Stresa and Baveno with a short lakeside hike or a relaxed ferry ride.

- Aosta in the Alps: Roman arches and theatre ruins sit right inside town, and the surrounding peaks frame every street. Your tour can link the ruins, a cheese stop for Fontina, and a quick ride up a nearby valley for photos and fresh air.

- Sacra di San Michele and Val di Susa: an ancient abbey perched high above the valley, stone corridors and stairways, and wide views back toward Turin. Your tour can pair the abbey with a stop in Susa or Avigliana for medieval lanes and a simple lunch.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Turin most travellers miss.
