Highly recommend booking this tour on your first full day in Venice! We walked over 20,000 steps with Jo-Ann and got a very comprehensive introduction to Venice. Jo-Ann speaks excellent English and knows so much about the history and culture of Venice! She also provided us with lots of helpful tips/suggestions on how to spend our remaining time in Venice. Jo-Ann is a fantastic guide. She created a tour exactly like we wanted. We explored the narrow alleyways and hidden gems of Venice, while still fitting in visits to local artists. Of course we saw the "have-to" places like The Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square, but it was the quiet hidden campi that were truly special. On top of the fantastic tour, Jo-Ann also arranged our boat ride to the airport. She was the perfect guide and host.
Your Venice tour itinerary
We will start our exploration in the historic Jewish ghetto, one of the oldest worldwide. Stroll through its alleyways and discover how this vibrant neighborhood has evolved over the centuries while maintaining its cultural heritage. Next, we will head towards the Rialto bridge, a symbol of Venice that offers stunning views of the Grand Canal and learn about its significance in the city's commerce and history. From there we'll venture into the lesser-known Castello district, where we will discover local artisan shops, hidden squares, and authentic Venetian life away from the bustling tourist spots. We'll then make our way to Riva degli Schiavoni, the beautiful waterfront promenade. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the lagoon and the nearby islands. We conclude our tour at the magnificent St. Marks Square, the heart and soul of Venice. Marvel at the grandeur of the Basilica and Campanile, and contemplate the history of this iconic square.
