The Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum Tour Half Day Tour

"History is an argument without end". With Geyl's quote in mind, every time I lead a walk, I always ask myself the same question; How can I fit thousands of years of history in only 3. 5 hours? Hmm…I am what you call a true history buff and a passionate storyteller, I have studied archaeology  and museology and I will do my best to help you discover and understand Ancient Greek culture and history.   In this private tour we will explore the Acropolis Rock, the symbol of ancient Greece as well as one of the finest museums in Europe, the Acropolis Museum, which is a modern architectural gem in the heart of Athens, with exceptional collections of ancient Greek statues, vases and marble panels. By the end of the concise half day tour you will be a step closer to the city's history, culture and life.  

The tour will start with a visit of the Acropolis Sacred Rock. We will begin with the South Slope and the majestic theater of Dionysus, where the most important tragedies and comedies of the ancient Greeks were first performed. We will then continue with the temple of Asclepius, the healing god. On our way we will see the spectacular Roman Music Hall and we will take the path that leads to the imposing temple of Athena Nike and the Propylaea, the monumental gate to the Acropolis. We will have the unique opportunity to admire the city's most prestigious temple, the Partheon and the Erechtheion temple, a masterpiece of ancient Greek architecture. Our tour will continue with the magnificent new Acropolis Museum, the city's indisputable jewel. In the museum we are going to see some of the masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture, before we head to the highlight of the museum, its third floor, which hosts the Parthenon Gallery.
