Hello !! My name is Spyridoula and I am a licensed Greek Guide, based in Athens, Greece. Being a licensed guide in Greece means that you have studied for 2 years in a special Guides Academy which is under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism and have traveled all over Greece for ad hoc training. Besides being a guide, I have a solid background in the cultural field. I am a specialist in Archives and Museums Studies as I hold a PHD in the field of Digital Humanities and a Post Doc in a combination of Digital Humanities- Sociology and Economics. I have been an active researcher and university professor- not continuously- in the above fields since 2009 . But I don't give lectures during my tours!! I like having fun with people, because I love people!! I have met people from all over the world, people of various backgrounds and ethnicities and every time I realize that despite our superficial differences, we have too many things in common. So, being a guide is a gift for me!! A gift for the soul and mind! I do tours all over Greece and I am open to special inquiries from my future visitors. I am looking forward to meeting you!!!

This tour aims to show to visitors the most prestigious religious monuments of Athens and explain to them the transition from the worship of the Greek Gods to Christianism. Amazing churches, hundreds of years old, around or near Acropolis, in the Ancient Agora, some built on ancient Greek temples create a mosaic of beauty and amazing christian art and tell their part of the history of the city of Athens. These churches are Greek Orthodox dated from the 10th to the 19th century AD.
Starting from the oldest church of Athens in Monastiraki Square, we will continue our way to Plaka to visit very important churches dated from the 11th to the 17th century AD, walk under Acropolis as Parthenon had been the Metropolitan church of the city for centuries, visit the famous church of Agios Dimitrios Loubardiaris opposite Acropolis, walk to the rock of Areopagus (Mars Hill) to have a look at one of the city's oldest churches in the Ancient Agora (optional entrance to the Ancient Agora ), and then we will walk to the commercial center to visit some very important churches in the heart of the city. Our tour will end with the visit of the Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral of Athens at the Metropolis Square. This is a customised tour and it can be adjusted to the visitors' needs.
