Hello, and welcome to Athens. My name is Panos and I'll be your local guide in this beautiful city that I call home. As a local, living in central Athens and a licensed tourist guide, I'm always excited about introducing guests to the city's rich history. My aim is to introduce visitors, not only to the city's sites and monuments, but also to its unique culture, architecture and modern life. What I consider essential, is breathing life into monuments and adding historical and cultural context to the sites we visit. My working experience as a guide has taught me how to be flexible and how to adjust the tours to the individuals' and groups' special needs and interests. Guiding guests to the city's sites has also turned out to be a great opportunity to interact with people from all over the world, people with different backgrounds, ideas and experiences. My academic background is in History, Archaeology and Political Science. I have a Bachelor's Degree in History, a Master's Degree in International and European Relations, and a second Master's Degree in the Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean. I am still engaged in Academia, conducting research on Human Migration in the University of Athens. I have a passion for learning foreign languages: I'm fluent in English, German and French, and I'm currently learning Russian and Spanish. I have always believed that the beauty of life lies in our ability to broaden our horizons, with books, courses, art, travelling and new experiences. Let me share with you my enthusiasm about the city's millennia-old history and its amazing vibes. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Licensed Tourist Guide (Greek Ministry of Tourism) Bachelor's Degree in History (Ionian University) Master's Degree in International & European Relations (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens). Master's Degree in Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean, from Prehistory to Late Antiquity (University of the Aegean). Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge, UK) Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française DALF C2 (Ministère de l'Éducation Nationale, FR) Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, München, DE). I am only delivering walking tours, since I am not a driver guide, nor a professional driver.

A tour designed especially for those who wish to delve into public life and private practices in Ancient Athens. Explore with the company of a historian the Hill of Pnyka and the Ancient Greek Agora, where Democracy was born and perfected, and stroll along the paths where Socrates once taught about the meaning of life, virtue and personal responsibility. Discover the places where Pericles once delivered his famous speeches and admire the melancholic and gracious faces of the ancient Athenians, carved for eternity on the grave marks of Kerameikos. The tour focuses on the aspects of public and private life in Ancient Athens, which forged the uniqueness of its people and turned the city into the political and cultural hub of the Ancient World. Our walk in the Ancient Greek Agora, the Cemetery of Kerameikos and the Hill of Pnyka will help us discover everyday life, rites and rituals in Ancient Athens, while acquainting ourselves with the places where Democracy and Philosophy blossomed.
The tour starts with a visit in the archaeological site of the Ancient Greek Agora, the political, administrative and commercial centre of Ancient Athens, where guests can view, among other monuments, the Temple of Hephaestus, the ruins of the Agrippa Odeon and the rebuilt Attalos Stoa, which hosts the splendid Museum collection of the Agora. Our visit will provide the occasion to talk about ancient Greek Philosophy, while our walk among the ruins will allow us to discuss about the origins and the institutions of ancient Athenian Democracy. The tour will continue with a visit in the Kerameikos Cemetery, viewing the elegant grave marks of the prominent ancient Athenians, the exquisite Museum collection of the site, the "Demosion Sema", and the ancient walls of the city, while discussing about ancient rituals and the perception of Death in Ancient Athens. The walk will end on the Hill of Pnyka, the meeting place of the Athenian Democratic Assembly, where we can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Acropolis.
