My name is Anastasia and I am an archeologist, an art historian, and a licensed tour guide since 2014. My working languages are English, Italian, and Greek. I was born and raised in Athens where I took also my first degree in Greek Archeology and History of Art at the University of Athens. Later I moved abroad for postgraduate studies in Italian Art history In Warwick-England, Glasgow-Scotland, and Fribourg- Switzerland. Therefore I lived for a prolonged time in other European cities mostly in England, Scotland, and Italy. I've also worked in different positions in the history of Art ( various museums, art galleries, and institutions like the Fondazione Cini in Venice) as an archeologist in the American School for Classical Studies in Athens and as a lecturer in different educational institutes. I consider myself a citizen of the world and I do enjoy bringing people together and immersing them in the beauty and culture of my country. Art history is my passion and I am a keen reader and traveler. Apart from art history, I love cinema, photography, fashion, and most of all wine since I am a certified expert in wine having a set 3rd level in Wine and Spirits I do believe that the world of Wine is inspirational and fascinating. Therefore the range of my tours varies. I organize and offer archeological and art-historical tours in all the big museums and archeological sites, wine tours, and wine tastings for wine lovers. I also provide tailor-made tours that match my visitors' interests and passions. I believe that Culture, Wine, and Travel bring people together and two of my favorite quotes are "The world is my oyster" and "The world is a book, and those that do not travel read only a page. 1. Greece is the land of Democracy. This great political system with all the advantages and the disadvantages that still carries was born here in Athens in the 5th century B. C. Departing from a detailed analysis of Democracy in ancient times we will understand the different aspects of this system and how those aspects are reflected on today's political systems. We will also try to expose the different aspects of the Daily life of the ancient Athenians and the Agora is the best place for that since it is the place of the political administration but also the commercial centre of the ancient people. We will think about the people that were meeting in the Agora every day the politicians, the judges, the citizens, the buyers and the sellers, the philosophers, the slaves. Since Life and Death were inextricably connected in ancient times, later we will visit the cemetery Kerameikos where Pericles gave his funeral oration in the first year of the Peloponnesian war.
In the first part of the tour, the Agora, we will try to identify the most important political buildings, such as the Parliament, the Senate, and the Stoa of Zeus Eleytherios, and we will visit the temple of Athena and Hefaistus. Later, we will visit the Stoa of Attalos and we will have the chance to talk about the market, the economy and finance of the city and, of course, about life in the market. The second part of the tour will take us through the ancient cemetery Kerameikos, which was the official cemetery of the ancient Athenians. There we will be able to see the Themistoclean walls, the Gates that led to the interior of the city, the Dipylon Gate, and the building of Pompeion. Finally, we will admire the sepulchral monuments and the various funerary stele. We will talk extensively about the funerary customs of the ancient people.
