Kalavryta, the cog railway and the cave of lakes tour from Athens

Υou can't really know a country if you don't visit the countryside, and Peloponnese is one of the most beautiful and interesting places in Greece. We will take the train from "Diakofto" for the mountain village "Zachlorou", a very small but also very beautiful village. The route between the mountains, rivers and gorges for 1 hour is unique! The great Byzantine monastery of "Mega Spilaio", was built under a rock and our visit there will be very interesting. Cave of lakes is something unique, Lakes in the interior of a cave (13 lakes) are neither common around the world, nor in Greece, where they constitute a unique geological phenomenon. This experience is a real acquaintance with Greece. You are going to see landscapes and places that you would not imagine existed in Greece. You will also meet the local food and wine, during our lunch in Kalavryta town. I think it is wonderful to fill images and emotions! For us that will be the goal!

* We will drive around 1, 5 hours from Athens to the cog railway station of "Diakofto" * A first stop before, at Corinth Canal, a technological achievement at the end of 19th century. There is a fantastic view, from there. * You will take the cog railway to Zahlorou and I will drive there to wait for you. * We will walk and admire the landscape of the small village and from there we will visit the Byzantine monastery of the Great Cave. * Next we will visit the small historical town of Kalavryta, we'll have a walk there and lunch in a local tavern. The local food and the wine are delicious. * On our way to the Cave of Lakes, we will see several small villages, in a beatyfull route inside the mountains. Visit the cave of Lakes for around 45 minutes. * Finally, a little bit mote than 2 hours driving and return to Athens around 19:00
