Hello or geia (as as my fellow Greeks would say)! My name is Angela, and I just love showing off the Greek capital, Athens. I was born in Greece, grew up in Australia and returned to rediscover my roots. Coming from a multi-national country I love meeting people from all around the globe and learning something new every time. I am more than happy to share my knowledge of Greek history and amazing culture with our international friends! Walking is hobby of mine and showing people the things, I have discovered in the nooks and crannies of Athens, is my passion. If you want to see or taste something out of the ordinary join me and I will show you an Athens you never knew existed. All my tours can be personalized according to your preferences, please do not hesitate to ask! Come join me and be an adventurer, not just a tourist. - I have worked in the tourist industry for over fifteen years mostly in islands and Athens. - As a Greek-Australian I was schooled in Australia and speak both languages fluently I am not a licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of the Museums and Archaeological Sites.

Overview of your Athens tour

The fact that there has been a Jewish presence in Greece for centuries eludes most people and even some Greeks! My tour takes about 4 hours and dives into the rich history of the Jewish community. We will visit the iconic Beth Shalom Synagogue a stunning building and much, much more. Next, we will explore the Etz Haim Synagogue, a symbol of resilience and the enduring spirit of the Romaniote community. Then it's a short walk to the Holocaust Memorial. At a bit of a lighter pace, we will visit the flea market and learn of its origins while searching for hidden gems. Continuing our journey, we will walk by the Ancient Greek Agora, that is believed to behold one of the oldest synagogue in Greece. Before the end of course we will see the Jewish Museum of Athens. Topping off our tour, we will eat a wonderfully catered meal at a kosher restaurant. Please note the synagogues are not open for tours on weekends. As 3 generations of a Jewish family (me in my 80's, my son of 53 and 2 grand-daughters of 21 and 18), we were all impressed with how well Angela was able to engage us all, in her very knowledgeable walking tour. We covered two synagogues, the Jewish Museum of Athens, the Holocaust Memorial (which Angela explained in great detail) and many other interesting things. Angela explained about the Jewish origins of the flea market and we all enjoyed looking for treasures both old and new! Angela explained things very well, and we neve felt rushed. Thank you for a most enjoyable tour, Angela!

A wonderful walk through Athens. Until this tour we were not aware of how much the Holocaust affected the Jews here. Angela met us at our hotel and kept us in formed the whole tour plus tips on Greek culture. Made a great first day in this part of the world.
