Ya sas, and welcome to Athens! My name is Alexandros but my friends call me Alex. I will be your local guide in Athens. They say that "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there. " So, from an early age I had realized what I always wanted to do; visit both the past and many different countries. This is why I became an archaeologist and a tour guide. I have an academic background in History and Archaeology as well as in Museology and Cultural Management. I am a museum educator, working both with children and grown-ups. Guiding walks is not merely about providing information, but mostly about sharing with visitors my experience as a local. It's not about explaining how or when Athens became the center of the ancient world, but why the city became so important and why it is still so unique. My greatest passion is traveling; As a traveler myself, I believe I know what a guest wishes to discover in a new travel destination. I always try to identify myself with the visitors and show them aspects of the city that I would like to view if I were in their position. I love reading books, learning foreign languages and listening to good music. I am always enthusiastic to introduce visitors to the city's history, culture and life, focusing on the classical sites and the modern aspects of Athens. I am looking forward to meeting you . When I started designing this tour I had in mind that there are so many visitors coming to the city with one wish; to get the most out of Athens within very limited time. As a traveler myself, I believe I know what a guest wishes to explore in a new travel destination. In this 5- hour private tour we will have the opportunity to visit the highlights of Athens, the Acropolis and the Museum, and at the same time we will discover some of the city's best preserved hidden gems. We will explore the Acropolis Rock, the symbol of ancient Greece and everything that ancient Greek culture symbolizes. We will visit one the finest museums in Europe, the Acropolis Museum: a modern architectural gem in the heart of Athens with exceptional collections of ancient Greek statues, vases and marble panels. We will also spend time in the Agora, where we will learn about everyday life and customs in ancient Athens. Lastly, we will walk through the streets of Plaka and Monastiraki, the neighbourhoods of the Gods.
Alex was awesome. He has a tremendous fund of knowledge and is very pleasant. His visual aids really help to picture ancient Athens. He was also very open to questions and frequently would check in to see how we were feeling during the tour. Would highly recommend.

Alex is very personable, knowledgeable, and respectful. His English is excellent! We had a wonderful 1/2 day tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. He really explained the history of the Acropolis and Ancient Greeks and tied it all together with his tour of the Museum. I would highly recommend him for a tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum.
Absolutely—thee best—tour of the Acropolis and its Museum!!! 10 stars! So interesting, so relaxed, such incredibly fact filled commentary. Alexandros had photographs, diagrams, and Maps that helped to explain what we saw AND what we couldn’t see. He was at his best explaining the origins of the Greek gods and goddesses and their surrounding mythology. What a treat. What a thrill.

Amazing tour encompassing Greek history, mythology and archaeology. From the Acropolis museum (stunning in its own right), to the Acropolis and Parthenon, Alex brought the concepts and history to life. The tour through the heart of the “modern city” was equally thoughtful and interesting. Absolutely recommend for all ages.
The tour will start with a visit of the Acropolis Sacred Rock. We will begin with the South Slope and the majestic theater of Dionysus. We will then continue with the temple of Asclepius-the healing god, the spectacular Roman Music Hall and we will take the path that leads to the imposing temple of Athena Nike and the Propylaea, the monumental gate to the Acropolis. We will have the unique opportunity to admire the city's most prestigious temple, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion temple, a masterpiece of ancient Greek architecture. Our tour will continue with the magnificent new Acropolis Museum, the city's indisputable jewel, where we will discover its unique collections. Our next stop will be the Agora, the center of ancient Athens, where we will trace the steps of Socrates, the Agora's most famous daily visitor. And the tour will end with a stroll in Athens' most authentic neighborhoods, Plaka and Monastiraki, where we will have a look at the Roman Agora and Hadrian's Library.
