I was born in central Greece in 1972. I live in Athens since 1993 and I have been a licensed professional taxi driver ever since. Overview of your Athens tour
What urged me in planning this day trip tour was the completion of the E65 new modern and safe highway, a massive construction work, anticipated years now. This saves us one entire hour of driving as we skip the mountain turns, and gives more time to explore Meteora! The unique sky scrapping rocky Meteora, that there is no other worldwide! That is why it is included in Unesco's heritage monuments. The view is breathtaking, justifying the name "Meteora (meaning that something is just hanging out there, hanging from nowhere). We visit the Monasteries used to worship the one and only God of Christianity, following Byzantine era, showing man's courage and faith to build those Monasteries up there. It really feels divine, and makes you meditate and think of what really matters in life. . . After our visit we'll have lunch to a very nice traditional Greek restaurant and make one more stop to Thermopylae (Hot Gates) site, before return to Athens again, and finish our tour.
Your Athens tour itinerary
- Starting our tour from Athens, we drive the national highway, passing through the biggest Greek plain of Thessaly. We pass through lovely landscapes and get a view of Mountain Olympus-the highest mountain of Greece, home of the 12 ancient Greek Gods. - We reach Meteora Monasteries; St. Nicolaos, Rousanou, Great Meteoro, Varlaam, Agia Triada, St. Stefan (Usually travellers get to visit 3 Monasteries during tour. Proper dress code is required) Each day of the week, 1 of the 6 Monasteries is closed for maintenance. - Lunch in a traditional Greek restaurant - Battle of Thermopylae Ground - Return to Athens Notes: - This tour is private and therefore subject to changes according to your wish and preferences.
