What I love most about this, is the unique experience of the Cog Railway (Odontotos), which follows the Vouraikos' gorge. After visiting the Ancient Corinth, you will enjoy the train route from the seaside Diakopto to the picturesque Kalavryta. Diakopto is located 22 Km near Kalavrita. The journey takes one hour and the speed of the train ranges between 30 and 40 Km/h at usual rail and 6 - 15 Km/h at cogs. The slope of the ground does not allow the movement of a usual train, so between the rails there are cogs that allow the operation of a mechanism to raise the train from the level of the sea at the station of Kalavrita which is 750 metres above the sea level. The little cog train known in the past as the tooth train), is well known to train lovers all over the world, because its journey along the gorge, is one of the most spectacular railway rides.
•Drive to the Corinthian canal -15 minutes stop for pictures. 30 minutes' drive to Ancient Corinth and its museum, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman baths and finally the Vima (step) from where St. Paul preached to the Corinthians. •1 hour to visit the site •1-hour drive to Diakofto •Catch the train departing at 11:15 am with direction to Kalavryta. •This route through Vouraikos Canyon, is considered as one of the most beautiful train trip in Balkans. The journey takes one hour and the speed of the train ranges between 30 and 40 Km/h at usual rail and 6 - 15 Km/h at cogs.
