The full day Marathon tour starts with a 22-mile drive through the northern suburbs of Athens, Kifisia, Ekali, St. Stefanos. At our first stop at Marathon Lake you will have the chance to enjoy the scenery and take beautiful photos. Arriving at the town of Marathon, we will visit the site of the battle of Marathon in 490 BC, in which the Athenian army defeated the Persians. We will continue our tour by visiting the Marathon museum and then we will drive south to a sacred site of the hunter Goddess Artemis, the Temple of Artemis in Vravrona sometimes called, romantically, The Parthenon of the Bare Maidens. Leaving the museum and after a 20 mile-drive, we arrive at Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. We conclude our tour with a 44-mile scenic drive back to Athens along the coastal Poseidon Avenue. Most of the visitors agree that the drive is quite similar to the French Riviera area. A few stops are required so you can take photos of the sandy beaches , the yacht harbors, and Vouliagmeni Lake.
