Athens National Archaeological Museum Tour

The National Archaeological Museum is the main museum of Greece. It offers a wide perspective on all the periods of greek art. This is my most favourite museum! I enjoyed every minute I spent here when I was an archaeology student. What I love about it, is the passion of particular people that led to its creation. It is the oldest museum of Greece and to bring each one of the pieces we see here was an adventure. Think how special it is to stand in front of the originals that you have seen in books and videos! Apart from the permanent collection, the museum most of the times presents temporary thematic exhibitions. Let's visit it!

• We will meet at the entrance and start our visit. • Collection of Cycladic marble figurines. • Mycenean collection. Gold masks, jewelry, swords, linear B tablets, sherds of frescoes. • Galleries of Kouros and Korai statues. Famous Phrasikleia, and Sounion kouros. • Masterpieces of classical period. Bronze statue of Poseidon, some funerary stelai, copy of the classical statue of Parthenon Athena. • Antinythera mechanism and medical tools. • Santorini frescoes. • Hellenistic period art: Bronze horse with jokey, Aphrodite and Pan, Diadoumenos. Surprise! If it is open, we can visit the room of the mummies!
