Ya sas, and welcome to Athens! My name is Alexandros but my friends call me Alex. I will be your local guide in Athens. They say that "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there. " So, from an early age I had realized what I always wanted to do; visit both the past and many different countries. This is why I became an archaeologist and a tour guide. I have an academic background in History and Archaeology as well as in Museology and Cultural Management. I am a museum educator, working both with children and grown-ups. Guiding walks is not merely about providing information, but mostly about sharing with visitors my experience as a local. It's not about explaining how or when Athens became the center of the ancient world, but why the city became so important and why it is still so unique. My greatest passion is traveling; As a traveler myself, I believe I know what a guest wishes to discover in a new travel destination. I always try to identify myself with the visitors and show them aspects of the city that I would like to view if I were in their position. I love reading books, learning foreign languages and listening to good music. I am always enthusiastic to introduce visitors to the city's history, culture and life, focusing on the classical sites and the modern aspects of Athens. I am looking forward to meeting you . I would be happy to share all its secrets with you Visit the Acropolis Hill with the imposing temples of the Parthenon and the Erechtheion, and hear the stories of the marbles in the New Acropolis Museum. Drive through the most scenic and distinctive landmarks of the city. Walk through the sites of the Ancient Agoras (Greek and Roman) in pursuit of Socrates. Learn more about the ancient Greek architecture and admire some of the finest buildings in downtown Athens. Stroll around Plaka, Athens' oldest neighborhood and enjoy a delicious Greek meal in Monastiraki, the city's Flea Market. Also drive up the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettus, for the best panoramic view of the city
Your Athens tour itinerary
The day starts with picking you up from the port of the city or your place. After the drive, the first stop will be the Acropolis Hill where we will spend two full hours, enough to thoroughly explore the rock and the slopes. Then the journey continues with a panoramic vehicle tour of the city's most important monuments and landmarks, before we visit the Ancient Greek Agora. This is the time for a refreshing stop for lunch in one of the numerous traditional taverns in downtown Athens. Right after, we go sightseeing around Plaka and Monastiraki. Among others, we will visit Athens' Flea Market, Hadrian's Library, the Roman Agora and many more. Going on, we will visit the New Acropolis Museum, a masterpiece of the modern architecture. Before taking you back, we will drive up the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettus, for the best panoramic view of the city.
