Starting from your cruise terminal, we will drive into Athens. We will begin with a city drive in which we will see some of the highlights of down-town Athens. Among other sites, we will see the temple of Zeus, the Panathenean stadium, the National Gardens, the Parliament building and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier where time depending we will see the changing of the guards. Then we will head to the Acropolis. The Acropolis is a hill which served as the fortress of Athens over a period of almost six thousand years continuously. It is crowned by the ancient temple of the goddess Athena, the Parthenon. After visiting the Acropolis we will descend to the Ancient Agora, the heart of the ancient city where we will see the temple of Hephaistos. From there, we will reach the picturesque neighborhoods of Plaka where we will take a break for lunch. Then, we will tour the New Acropolis Museum and finally return back to the port. So much to see, so little time. Had our cruise ship stayed here more than one day, we would have spent another with Maria. It is little wonder that she is so booked up to share her knowledge of Athens all that it has to offer. What we saw and learned during our time with Maria was priceless. Maria was great. Her knowledge is extremely broad and deep and she didn’t hesitate when answering my many questions. She presented early Greek life in an informative, but entertaining way. I had asked for a few changes to her normal tour and she executed a plan where I got more out of the tour than I thought. The entire experience was smooth and without any waiting. I can’t recommend her enough and you would be lucky to have Maria as your guide on any tour in Greece.

Maria provided a great Athens experience. She arranged our schedule to avoid the worst of the crowds and kept us moving. Her knowledge of artifacts in the museum and the structures at the Acropolis is outstanding and she communicates very well in English.
