Greetings from Greece! My name is Nektarios and I am a local at the city of Athens. I speak Greek and English fluently and I have been working as a licensed taxi driver and tour guide for the past 18 years. I chose this profession because I have always liked cars and driving in general. I am also a car engineer graduate and I work part time as a high school professor. This has given me the chance always be aware of my vehicles and be able to understand and overcome any situation. My current vehicle is a Mercedes E class. I believe that one word that would perfectly describe my personality is passionate. Passionate about my country. Passionate about my work. Passionate to adapt and try to do the best I can. I have always loved Greece and especially its rich history and culture. In fact, I can hardly think of a time that I did not want to open another history or mythology book in order to further extend my knowledge. Seven years ago I gave my first tour around Athens and so I had my first chance to try to pass my passion to others. I've loved it ever since. After that I have been working hard gathering pictures, videos and additional information to provide my customers with. Finding various local restaurants for them to try the famous Greek traditional cuisine and small out-of-the-way places that attract way less travellers and provide them with unique experiences. I am also one of the few Private Drivers in Athens who has passed and been issued with a Greek Certification Diploma from 2007 as a certified driver-guide by EOT (Greek National Tourism Organization), Everything I do is for my customer's satisfaction, happiness and entertainment. What I value most about this tour is that it is designed so that you can get the full experience of sightseeing in just one day. Not only will you be able to say that you saw all the most known archaeological sites of Athens but that you also took a beautiful excursion nearby. We will visit The Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus and Arch of Hadrian, the Stadium of the 1896 Olympiad, the Greek parliament, the changing of the royal guards, the trilogy of neoclassical buildings (university, academy, library) and the breathtaking panoramic view of Athens from Mt. Lycabetos. After that we will enjoy a scenic drive to Cape Sounio and visit the breathtaking temple of Poseidon. Feel free to enjoy the outstanding view of the Aegean sea and one of the most beautiful sunsets in Greece. It is one of Greece's most photographed monuments so make sure to take plenty of photos as its unique location and aesthetic can offer great opportunities. After that get ready to experience the Greek cuisine at a traditional restaurant.
Sorry for my delay in providing feedback. Our day in Athens with Nektarious was wonderful, in spite of the expected heat, of course. He was prompt, and friendly, and informative. I was suffering from a knee issue, and he made an unscheduled stop for me to purchase a cane, so I could more easily navigate the ruins and other challenges. We had to make an itinerary change due to the fires, but he found us a lovely stop for dinner with a gorgeous view. He provided a very memorable day!
Nektarios was a fine guide. It felt like he was taking a friend on a tour of his city, providing insights only a local would have. He provided interesting commentary on the two-way long commute to Poseidon's Temple and his local restaurant recommendation for lunch was completely authentic and tasty (we were the only non-locals there). We would use Nektarios again should we find ourselves in Athens.
Nektarios was knowledgeable, funny, and fun. There was even a quiz at the end. We had a great day. Family tour with my two daughters.
Nektarious was an excellent tour guide! Being that he his a teacher, he loves sharing information and taught us so much during our full-day tour with him. He was also able to answer just about any question we had. The day was very enjoyable and given the extreme heat it was very nice being in an air-conditioned car between stops. He even had ice cold water waiting for us after our visit on the Acropolis. Before we got out at each place he had an IPad mounted in the car to show is details while he told us all about the site we would be walking through. He also would tell us important things to notice. It was nice because we were able to hear all the information in the nice cool air-conditioned car then we would get out and walk the site on our own at our own pace. We really enjoyed the conversation throughout the day with him. We would definitely recommend taking a tour with him.
We were on a cruise that ended in Athens and our rental apartment wasn't available until 4 p.m., so we booked a day with Nektarios. He picked us up at our ship, put our luggage in the trunk of his clean, comfortable car, and off we went. We drove down the Athenian Riviera coast to the Temple of Poseidon, stopped for a delicious lunch, and had a wonderful overview of Athens. Nektarios is an excellent driver, well-prepared with interesting information. We had a wonderful day and strongly recommend Nektarios
This tour and this tour guide were awesome. We saw everything on our list and more. The tour guide met us on time and provided us with excellent transportation. He knew his history very well and presented it throughout the activities. He offered insights and made recommendations that added to our adventure. We recommend him without equivocation.
Starting from our meeting location we will head to the city centre and visit the Acropolis hill which includes the Parthenon, Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, Dionysus Theatre and Herodes Atticus Odeon. Then we will head to the temple of Zeus, the arch of Hadrian and the old Olympic stadium. After that we will see the change of the royal guards in the Greek Parliament by Syntagma square. We will also enjoy the view of Athens from Mt. Lycabettus. We will continue the tour with a scenic drive along the coast of Apollo where we will see many beautiful beaches, local settlements, yacht clubs and rocky islands. After that we will visit the ruins of the famous temple of Poseidon and enjoy the view of the Aegean sea and the sunset. We will return in the same route and eat at a local restaurant. Bear in mind that the itinerary can be adjusted based on traffic or your preferences.
