Hello! My name is Ifigeneia but my friends call me Ifi (pronounced If-ee'). I am going to be your local guide in Athens . When I was young I was always wondering what I can do in order to see the world from another perspective and at the same time to earn when I am travelling. The answer was to become a tour guide. It is so fascinating to learn about history and culture of different countries, to meet new people while sharing my love of travel with people like you. My interest about history and archaeology made me more curious about the rich past of my beautiful country , Greece. There are so many archaeological sites and I was ready to explore them. I was born in Naoussa, a small town in the northern part of Greece close to one of the most famous places in the world, the school of Aristotle. I studied History and Archaeology with specialisation in history at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and hold a MA in Museology and Cultural Management from the same University. Later I decided to take more exams and now I hold a second Bachelor's degree in History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology with specialization in Archaeology from the University of Thessaly. I am also a licensed tourist Guide from the Ministry of Tourism and I am currently working as a tourist guide since 2013. It is a pleasure to meet new people from all over the world and share with them the history and the myths of my beautiful country. For the first time I visited Athens when I was at school and I fell in love with this place , the beautiful past and the myths that unveils. For about 10 years I was working as a tourist guide in Mykonos and Delos island. Mykonos , a cosmopolitan island , gave me many chances to meet new people and learn more about their culture and Delos island , a beautiful archaeological site , only 30 minutes far away from the bustling Mykonos, makes you feel that you travel in the past. Mykonos is known as "the island of the winds" and maybe the wind brought me here to Athens for a special reason. To make me explore with you this wonderful place. Almost after ten years of experience I decided to work in Athens , to make a new beginning and to work with passion as always . I am ready to explore the city with you . I love singing, travelling and watching good movies with some wine and good friends. I am very enthusiastic to introduce people to the city's history, culture and life. I am looking forward to meeting you. Please do not hesitate to contact me in case you want me to customize one of my tours. Welcome to Greece! According to a Goethe's phrase : "architecture is frozen music and the Parthenon is one of the sweetest Melodies". In this half day tour , you are going to see the most important monument of Athens: The Parthenon . Build in the Acropolis hill and dedicated to the goddess Athina , the Parthenon became the symbol of the Athenian Democracy. Learn more about the Greek mythology, the architecture and the history of the city . You will explore the ruins of a sacred destination having the opportunity to walk through the imposing entrance , the Propylaia, before you visit the Parthenon. Also you will see the odeon of Herod Atticus a wonderful Music Hall where still organise music concerts . Next monument is the sweetest and smallest temple , the temple of Athina Nike and the beautiful Erechtheium with the Karyatids holding its roof . If you are fit enough we are going to explore the south slope of the Acropolis talking more about the theatre of Dionysus, the Ancient Greek drama and the temple of Asclepius
-meeting point at the metro station in Makrygianni street (early in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds ). In case you travel on a cruise ship , you need extra transportation to get to the Acropolis hill. It is recommended that you use your own means of transportation. Taxi or metro is constantly available from the port of Piraeus to the city centre. It usually takes 30 minutes to arrive to the city Center . -the tour starts with the south slope of the Acropolis and our visit to the oldest ancient theatre of Athens , the theatre of Dionysus , the sanctuary of Asclepius and the sanctuary of the nymphs. - we continue with the beautiful odeon , the odeon of Herodes Atticus and the majestic view from the hill -we are going to walk through the propylaia, the imposing entrance of the sanctuary and you will admire the beautiful temple of Athina Nike and the view of the ancient agora, the administrative center of the city . -we are going to visit the erechtheion temple and of course the Parthenon -photostop
