A journey to ancient Athens. Explore the two most important sites, the Acropolis and the ancient Agora. Learn the history, culture and myths of the city that became the "cradle" of western civilization. We see the spectacular marble temples of the Acropolis, the best of Greek architecture. We also see the theater of Dionysus, the oldest in the world, where drama was born. We visit the ancient Agora, where the Athenians would spend a great part of their day and learn the chain of events that led to the birth of democracy; We see the temple of Hephaestus, the best preserved in Athens and discover rare finds and their fascinating stories in the museum. The tour ends at the ancient Agora, located in the area of the flea market, Monastiraki.
We first visit the Acropolis Hill, and see the Propylaea, the temple of Nike, the Erechtheion with the porch of Maidens and the famous Parthenon. See or visit the theater of Dionysus. Walk 25' minutes to the ancient Agora through Plaka. On our way we see the ruins of the Roman Agora. Visit the ancient Agora and see the temple of Hephaestus. Visit the Agora Museum (Stoa of Attalos). After the end of the tour, you can continue with lunch or some souvenir shopping in Monastiraki or Plaka.
