1. Vieux Lyon – Where the Silk Story Began We start in the heart of the Old Town, where Lyon’s silk history first developed during the Renaissance. Inside an authentic workshop, you’ll discover an authentic Jacquard loom and discover the work of a real craftman. 2. Croix-Rousse – The Canuts’ District (using metro) We then head to the Croix-Rousse district, home of the silk workers (Canuts). Through its unique architecture and hidden passageways (traboules), you’ll discover: - the daily life of the Canuts - the importance of silk to Lyon’s economy - the revolts that shaped the social history of the city 3.
