Explore Bonifacio your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Bonifacio tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Bonifacio for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Cruise by private boat to the Lavezzi Islands in the Bouches de Bonifacio marine park to snorkel over posidonia meadows and spot groupers in clear coves. Prefer to stay on land? Your guide can lead a coastal hike to Capo Pertusato or a sea kayak along the limestone cliffs and into the Sdragonato sea cave.

Day trip tours: Drive through the Ospedale forest to the short trail for the Piscia di Gallo waterfall, then stop in Porto-Vecchio harbour for gelato and a quick walk along the old ramparts. Or head toward the Aiguilles de Bavella for a scenic walk and a farmhouse lunch of charcuterie and brocciu, arranged by your guide.

Art and Culture tours: Explore the citadel’s lanes with stops at the Bastion de l’Étendard museum, Église Sainte-Marie-Majeure, and the marine cemetery, and hear the legend behind the Escalier du Roi d’Aragon as you descend the steps. You can also drop into a family-run épicerie to taste lonzu, fig jam, and a slice of fiadone while your guide shares stories of Genoese rule.

The upper town is very walkable, but there are many stairs and public transit is limited beyond town. For beaches, trails, and mountain villages, ask your local guide about chauffeured tours or private transportation to keep travel easy.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Bonifacio inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Bonifacio

From Bonifacio, you can spend a full day on the water or in the mountains without long drives, so plan day trips that match the weather and your pace; these day trips also fit well with small‑boat or driving tours that keep things flexible.

Lavezzi Islands: Take a short boat ride to granite islets with clear coves and marked paths across boulders, then swim or snorkel in calm bays; if you want a low‑key sea day, the beaches and simple trails make it easy to balance time in the water with quiet wandering.

Porto‑Vecchio: Split your day between the old town and nearby beaches like Palombaggia or Santa Giulia, checking the ramparts, marina, and sandy shallows; beach lovers get long swims and soft sand, while the citadel area adds easy shopping and a relaxed lunch.

Sartène: Explore narrow stone lanes and the main square, visit the archaeology museum, and try charcuterie or sheep’s cheese at small cafés; if you like history with a slower tempo, this hill town gives you solid stories and local flavours in one compact stop.

Aiguilles de Bavella and Ospedale Forest: Drive into the Alta Rocca for pine forests, jagged peaks, and short walks to viewpoints and cascades when flowing; hikers and photographers get big scenery without committing to long routes, and small villages like Zonza offer simple places to pause between trails.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Bonifacio most travellers miss.
