Hi everybody, My name's Jean. I am a tour guide in the beautiful city of Lyon, my hometown. I was born and raised there and it is my pleasure to welcome you to this incredible place. What I want is to tell you stories. I believe in the magical power of stories, because no matter where we come from, stories connect us and invite us on wonderful journeys! I graduated in Art History and Archeology, but I am passionate about World War II and the history of the Jewish people. I studied also the American Civil War and the world of the impressionists. All this background has helped me to always keep in mind one important thing that my father also told me : history is great when it's shared. My goal is to reveal you the different sides of my hometown, so that you become, at the end of your tour, a real Lyonnais! Lyon is the city of murals, where artists express their talent on buildings to tell us stories. Many of the artworks that you see on this tour have been influenced by the great Mexican artist Diego Rivera, who at the beginning of the XXth century, chose to educate its people thanks to the power of art. Your journey will take you the best murals you can find in Lyon and will end to the incredible series of murals of the "Cité Idéale" in the suburb of "les Etats-Unis" (more than 25 murals in a single neighbourhood!). I graduated in Art History and I did many public lectures on Vincent Van Gogh. Your Lyon tour itinerary
Suggested route: •Straying point: the hill of la Croix-Rousse with the biggest mural of the city center. •Ending point: the quais of the Saône. This itinerary is just an indication of what we will see because as we have dozens and dozens of murals in Lyon, and this in each districts, we can change our route according to the time left and to your personal tastes. There is no definite itinerary : as art is subjective, so must be the path we take :)
