Explore Beaune your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Beaune tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Beaune for every interest, including:

Food and Drink tours: Taste your way through the Saturday market by the Hospices de Beaune with gougères, Époisses, and jambon persillé, then descend into cool cellars for guided Pinot Noir and Chardonnay flights in Pommard or Meursault. Add a stop at the Moutarderie Fallot to crush seeds and compare mustards in a hands‑on tasting.

Nature and Wildlife tours: Pedal e‑bikes along the Voie des Vignes to Santenay, picnic by the Trois Croix lookout, and watch for hares and pheasants between vine rows at dusk. Hike the Cirque du Bout du Monde near Nolay to its waterfall and cliffs, or head to the Combe Lavaux reserve for spring orchids and raptors circling above the limestone.

The walled centre is easy to explore on foot, and TER trains connect Beaune to Dijon and Lyon. To reach vineyards, hill trails, and nature reserves, you can book a chauffeured tour or ask your local guide to include private transportation.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Beaune inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Beaune

From Beaune, add nearby towns and countryside to your plans, since short day trips round out the wine, food, and history you came for, and these tours make it easy to match your interests.

- Dijon: Dive into ducal history around the palace, browse the covered market, and taste real mustard in small shops; if you like architecture, medieval lanes and the fine arts museum keep you busy, and your tour can lean into food, art, or both without rushing.

- Côte de Nuits and Nuits-Saint-Georges: Follow the Route des Grands Crus, walk among Pinot Noir vines, and compare climats during relaxed cellar visits; ideal if you care about terroir and winemaking, with your tour pacing tastings and short vineyard walks to suit your day.

- Châteauneuf-en-Auxois and the Burgundy Canal: A hill village with stone lanes and big views pairs well with a flat towpath stroll by canal locks; good for photography, easy walking, and small craft stops, and your tour can add a farm visit or simple picnic if you like a slower day.

- Vézelay: The hilltop basilica, Romanesque carvings, and wide valley views make a thoughtful cultural stop; if medieval art, quiet streets, and studio browsing appeal to you, your tour can frame the story of pilgrimage and give time for a relaxed lunch in the village.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Beaune most travellers miss.
