Hi everybody, My name's Jean. I am a tour guide in the beautiful city of Lyon, my hometown. I was born and raised there and it is my pleasure to welcome you to this incredible place. What I want is to tell you stories. I believe in the magical power of stories, because no matter where we come from, stories connect us and invite us on wonderful journeys! Stories are universal and carry values that we all cherish, so if you love stories, I am your man. I graduated in Art History and Archeology, but I am passionate about World War II and the history of the Jewish people. I studied also the American Civil War and the world of the impressionists. All this background has helped me to always keep in mind one important thing that my father also told me : history is great when it's shared. My goal is to reveal you the different sides of my hometown, so that you become, at the end of your tour, a real Lyonnais! But of course, I am at your entire disposal if you want to make trips outside Lyon to places such as the Beaujolais Wine Country for instance! Ask me and I will deliver. See you soon in Lyon my dear friends, Jean - I have been vaccinated against COVID-19 (your security is my TOP priority) - Licensed Tour Guide - Graduate of Art History and Archeology - Guide in the Museum of the Resistance and Deportation in Lyon - Guide for river cruising companies like Viking River Cruises, AmaWaterways and Uniworld

Today, Lyon is the home to 40 000 Jews. The jewish community has always been an important part of city's history and it's story must be told. This tour will take you on a journey more than 15 centuries old. From the Middle Ages to the dark years of the Deportation, from the Renaissance to the emancipation during the French Revolution, I will tell you the story of the Jews in Lyon. We will go the the places where the Jews lived, prayed, gathered and suffered. I have studied the History of the Jews in my country, the History of Zionism, the History of Israël and I am passionate about Jewish culture. Not many guides in Lyon can offer you the same background. Join me on a journey into the soul of the Jewish people.
Start of the walking tour: •The Old Town: walk in the street "Juiverie" and the street "Ferrachat" that are the cradle of judaism in Lyon. Pictures can be taken of these beautiful places. •We then cross the Saône river to see the Presqu'île district : stop in front of the Great Synagogue. • After, walk to see the places of the Shoah in Lyon.
