Hi everyone, my name is Maicon! I am a French licensed tour guide. Thank you for your interest in my tours of Lyon. A little bit about me… After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Literature, a High University Diploma to become a French Licensed Tour Guide, and a Master's Degree in Art History, I've spent already many years providing unique experiences to people from all over the world. I am passionate about art and history, but the most beautiful thing about my work is the chance that I have to share that passion with other people. In Lyon, where I am currently living, my interests vary from ancient and archeological sites, to religious local history, medieval and renaissance architectural history, museums, modern history, and of course, everything related to Lyon's local traditions and reputation, such as, the Second World War, the silk industry, the very famous narrow and picturesque passage-ways called "Traboules", as well as gastronomy (with its very traditional restaurants named "Bouchons") and the heritage left in Lyon by the Father of French Gastronomy, Paul Bocuse. Lyon has a lot to offer. In every single corner, a piece of the city's history can be appreciated, and with a more dynamic walking pace, we can cover most of the city's main features. However, if you don't walk fast, and you feel like taking your time to ask questions, or even getting a quick rest or a coffee break, I'll be more than happy to adapt to your needs. After all, my philosophy is that it must be a very informative and interesting tour, but also, enjoyable to the whole group. My tours are customizable and the itineraries are flexible. Thank you again for reading my profile, and I look forward to hearing from you and meet you in Lyon. Academic background: - Bachelor's Degree in Languages and Literature (English and Portuguese) - Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Literature (France and Italy) - Professional Bachelor's Degree to become a French licensed guide - Master Degree in Art History Professional experience - Best French Guide of the year 2016 in Rome, Italy (based on reviews of visitors) - Tour guide in the Museum of Silk and Decorative Arts of Lyon - French Guide in Lyon I am not a driver, but I am pleased to accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Lyon benefits from a very peculiar and original topography. The city is dominated by two rivers, the Saone and the Rhone, converging to the south to form a sort of Peninsula, which is considered to be the heart of the city. This Peninsula, named "Presqu'île" in Lyon, is home to many of the most beautiful and important monuments and squares of the city, such as the City-Hall Palace, Bellecour Square with its imposing statue of the Sun King, or Terreaux Square with the statue made by the famous French architect Bartholdi. Besides, the "Peninsula" represents the cultural and commercial centre of Lyon, with the Opera House and the Celestins Theatre, and an abundance of popular and luxury shops and department stores. In this tour, we will explore the area that concentrates the most important monuments of the "Presqu'île", making Lyon a city of Greatness.
Suggested itinerary: -The tour could begin at Bellecour Square (beside the imposing statue of the Sun King). -We'd then pass by Celestins Theatre (a place of culture and quietness in the heart of Lyon). -After that, we'd cross the beautiful and charming Jacobins' Square. -Next, we'd walk across the picturesque Merciere Street. -Afterwards, we'd visit the historical Saint-Nizier Church (authentic gothic style). -Then we'd come across the imposing and gracious Palace of Commerce. -We would then reach the Republic Avenue (heritage of France's Second Empire). -Next, we would be arriving at the Opera House. -Next step would be the City-Hall Palace. -The Tour would finish at Terreaux Square, where we could admire the iconic Bartholdi Foutain and the peaceful garden and courtyard of the Fine Arts Museum. This is a suggestion of an itinerary for an optimized tour, but I could adapt it and customize it beforehand, so send me a message for any specific requests.
