I spent almost ten years in the UK, where I studied History, Religions, and Philosophy and developed a passion for fascinating legends, forgotten cults, pagan beliefs, and symbolism. I’ve worked in several roles within the hospitality industry and have led multiple wine tours—so I know how to spot (and taste!) a quality product. Lyon is surrounded by some of the best food and wine France has to offer, and I especially love sharing local markets where you can meet producers and buy directly from the source. After many years abroad, I returned to Lyon and now live in the charming neighborhood of La Croix-Rousse. Seeing my city again through the eyes of travelers has made me appreciate even more the richness, subtleties, and warmth of Lyon’s culture—and I understand why visitors fall in love with it so easily. We spent a wonderful morning walking through the old city of Lyon. Yamina shared her intimate knowledge of her home and many of its hidden treasures. She is very engaging and thoroughly addressed any and all of our questions. She is extremely personable and brings a special charm and enthusiasm which made our day so delightful. We then had a phenomenal lunch comprised of wine, baguettes, a multitude of many local cheeses and other special treats - best lunch of our entire visit in France. We highly recommend Yamina!!!

Yamina started us off with a deep dive into the food history and traditions of Lyon, via our first stop at Les Halles Paul Bocuse where she shopped for and we enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch. We then transfered to the Roman theater and explored the old town sites and views from the hill. It was a perfect introduction to Lyon!

We’ll stroll gently into the Old Town to admire Saint-Jean Cathedral, including a guided visit of its remarkable medieval astronomical clock. Along the way, uncover one of Lyon’s famous traboules, the hidden passageways that link the city’s streets. Then hop on the charming funicular, “La Ficelle,” to reach Notre-Dame de Fourvière Basilica, renowned for its unique Byzantine architecture and stunning views over the city. A private chauffeur will take us to the Brotteaux district and the celebrated Halles de Lyon, where the city’s finest food artisans showcase their specialties. The tour concludes with a glass of local wine, accompanied by regional cheese and charcuterie.
