I spent almost ten years in the UK, where I studied History, Religions, and Philosophy and developed a passion for fascinating legends, forgotten cults, pagan beliefs, and symbolism. Lyon is surrounded by some of the best food and wine France has to offer, and I especially love sharing local markets where you can meet producers and buy directly from the source. After many years abroad, I returned to Lyon and now live in the charming neighborhood of La Croix-Rousse. Seeing my city again through the eyes of travelers has made me appreciate even more the richness, subtleties, and warmth of Lyon’s culture—and I understand why visitors fall in love with it so easily. Starting in La Croix Rousse you will learn all about the staple of french food. We will stop in the best boulangerie in Lyon to purchase old fashion bread and learn about how bread is made. Our next stop will be in a fromagerie to understand what makes a quality cheese and buy some tasty ones. You will learn all about charcuterie in one of the most renowned butcher in the region. We cannot forget the sweet delicacy so we will stop at the famous Praline shop to buy the deliciously buttery brioche! Our shopping over, we will seat in a local café to order some local wine and enjoy our little picnic.
Yasmin was great! We had so much fun choosing our food. Cheeses, baguette, North African food, and pastries. We sat in a cafe ordered wine and had a lovely brunch. She shared with us the history of the silk trade. She is extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant. Highly recommended! We booked both morning and afternoon tours with her.
This was more than a food tour. Yamina also explained the history of the La Croix Rousse and Lyon. We visited several shops for traditional pastries,meats, cheeses and breads. After the La Croix. Rousse area, stopped and had a lovely picnic with all the delicious food she bought for us. Yamina also gave us great recommendations for places to eat and other things to see and do in Lyon. We completely enjoyed this tour.
A delightful morning with Yamina. She is charming, warm and witty and easily engaged with our group of 4. We learned the history of the La Croix Rousse neighborhood and its place in the gastronomy of Lyon. We strolled through the neighborhood and visited the farmers market, a charcuterie/butcher, a boulangerie, a fromagerie, and a shop selling the Praluline (local prink praline brioche) - with our purchases we stopped in a cafe for a class of wine and a delicious picnic. A perfect tour with Yamina!!!!
