Hi everyone, my name is Maicon! I am a French licensed tour guide. Thank you for your interest in my tours of Lyon. A little bit about me… After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Literature, a High University Diploma to become a French Licensed Tour Guide, and a Master's Degree in Art History, I've spent already many years providing unique experiences to people from all over the world. I am passionate about art and history, but the most beautiful thing about my work is the chance that I have to share that passion with other people. In Lyon, where I am currently living, my interests vary from ancient and archeological sites, to religious local history, medieval and renaissance architectural history, museums, modern history, and of course, everything related to Lyon's local traditions and reputation, such as, the Second World War, the silk industry, the very famous narrow and picturesque passage-ways called "Traboules", as well as gastronomy (with its very traditional restaurants named "Bouchons") and the heritage left in Lyon by the Father of French Gastronomy, Paul Bocuse. Lyon has a lot to offer. In every single corner, a piece of the city's history can be appreciated, and with a more dynamic walking pace, we can cover most of the city's main features. However, if you don't walk fast, and you feel like taking your time to ask questions, or even getting a quick rest or a coffee break, I'll be more than happy to adapt to your needs. After all, my philosophy is that it must be a very informative and interesting tour, but also, enjoyable to the whole group. My tours are customizable and the itineraries are flexible. Lyon is considered to be one of the most important cities in France. Therefore, it's home to plenty of historical landmarks such as the Basilica of Fourvière, the ancient Roman theaters and the Medieval-Renaissance District of Old Town with its picturesque cobblestone streets, its very typical restaurants named "Bouchons" and its secret passage-ways called "Traboules". But Lyon also presents one of the most peculiar topographies in France. Surrounded by two rivers, the "Peninsula area" is home to beautiful and charming squares and monuments, such as Bellecour Square, the City-Hall Palace, the Opera House and the Bartholdi Fountain. So, visiting the "Peninsula" of Lyon, is a great opportunity to see how tradition and modernity come together in the heart of the city. During this tour, we will explore some of the must-see places of Lyon, and understand how 2000 years of history, still reflect in the nowadays' city, making Lyon one of the greatest examples of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

We had a fascinating tour with Maicon. He is a wonderful guide … very personable, highly knowledgeable, very flexible, and attentive to all our questions. At our request, in addition to more general information about the history of important sites in Presqu’ile, he spent significant time on the silk industry. He arranged for us to visit a living/working silk weaving workshop in Croix Rousse which included a 40 min presentation of life and work of the family who lived there and had demonstrations on the hand loom and Jacquard looms. It was fascinating. Afterwards we explored other aspects of the Croix Rousse area, including traboules, bohemian culture, Roman ruins, wall murals. It was an outstanding day and Maicon was an exceptional guide. Highly recommend, six stars!

What an incredible tour. It was exactly as we had hoped. Maicon is well versed in the history of the area and we left with a great appreciation for the city thanks to his extensive knowledge. We only had four hours to spare but feel like he ensured that we saw all of the most important sites. We are native English speakers and Maicon is completely fluent in English ensuring that there were no communication issues.

Suggested itinerary: - The meeting point couldn be in front of the entrance of "VIeux-Lyon" metro station or at your hotel, depending on its location. - Then we would go up to the Fourvière Hill to visit the Basilica and see the most beautiful panoramic view of the city. - We would continue our tour visiting the Ancient Roman Theaters. - We would arrive in the "Old Town" to admire and explore the most charming and picturesque district of Lyon. - Next step is to cross the Saone River and get to the "Presqu'île", where we will see some iconic squares and monuments located in the heart of the city, including: ·Terreaux Square ·City-Hall Palace ·Opera House - The tour would finish at Bellecour Square or at your hotel (depending on its location). It's a walking tour, but we will have at least one ride using the funicular transportation to go up to the hill for a magnificent panoramic view of the city and to visit the Basilica of Fourvière.
