Hi everyone, my name is Maicon! I am a French licensed tour guide. Thank you for your interest in my tours of Lyon. A little bit about me… After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Literature, a High University Diploma to become a French Licensed Tour Guide, and a Master's Degree in Art History, I've spent already many years providing unique experiences to people from all over the world. I am passionate about art and history, but the most beautiful thing about my work is the chance that I have to share that passion with other people. In Lyon, where I am currently living, my interests vary from ancient and archeological sites, to religious local history, medieval and renaissance architectural history, museums, modern history, and of course, everything related to Lyon's local traditions and reputation, such as, the Second World War, the silk industry, the very famous narrow and picturesque passage-ways called "Traboules", as well as gastronomy (with its very traditional restaurants named "Bouchons") and the heritage left in Lyon by the Father of French Gastronomy, Paul Bocuse. Lyon has a lot to offer. In every single corner, a piece of the city's history can be appreciated, and with a more dynamic walking pace, we can cover most of the city's main features. However, if you don't walk fast, and you feel like taking your time to ask questions, or even getting a quick rest or a coffee break, I'll be more than happy to adapt to your needs. After all, my philosophy is that it must be a very informative and interesting tour, but also, enjoyable to the whole group. My tours are customizable and the itineraries are flexible. The "Old Town" of Lyon, with its magnificent Saint John's Cathedral, built between the 12th and 15th Century in authentic gothic style, was one the most important religious, cultural and economic centers in the Kingdom of France and Europe during the Middle-Ages and Renaissance period. It is also one of France's oldest districts. This unique ensemble was saved from destruction in the 1960's by the French Minister of Culture André Malraux, and it's today part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During this tour, alongside its picturesque cobblestones streets, we will discover the secret passageways called "Traboules", visit hidden courtyards, as well as old palaces and museums gifted with rich local architecture. Besides, this tour will also offer you a better understanding of some local traditions and historical events which solidified the city's reputation, such as Lyon's gastronomy (including the well known restaurants called "Bouchon" and the famous Praline cake), the silk industry, the WW2 and much more.

Suggested meeting point: In front of "Vieux-Lyon" metro station, or at Saint John's Square just in front of the great Saint John's Cathedral. - After visiting and admiring Saint John's Cathedral, we will explore the area: · The Imposing "Court of Justice" in Greco-Roman style. · The charming and picturesque narrow streets and secret passageways: "The famous TRABOULES". · The old palaces with rich local architecture. · The traditional restaurant "Les Bouchons de Lyon". · The Silk heritage of a city which was once the Silk capital in Europe. - You will also taste the delicious and famous "Pralines cake" in the shop "Saint-Jean Délices" or in "Pralinus", the best two pastry shops in the District. - The tour ends at "Place du Change", in the heart of Old Town, where I can give you some tips on how to enjoy the area, giving also directions to return to your hotel, or even kindly accompany yourself to the starting point of our visit. This itinerary can be customized to best meet your preferences.
