My Job is my passion , my passion is my Job I was born and grew up in Poland. I'm a licensed tour guide since 2006 and have worked a bot in Poland, Paris, Bruxelles and Prague with travelers from many countries. I have also taught French for 12 years since my Master Degree in French language and history. This historical, amazing city with its 2000 years old culture, from Gauls till today's vibrant modern times surprises, impresses and . . makes you hungry! If Paris is a capital of France, Lyon is absolutely its gastronomical paradise. Being here and not tasting the quenelles, cheese, wine and sausages is impossible! You shouldn't miss out on a dinner in famous Paul Bocuse restaurant and you have to visit the Halles - a huge, covered food market full of colors, flavors and scents. . . If you would like to sample local cheese or wine during your visit here, tell me and I will arrange a great experience for you. But. . . maybe you would prefer to visit the mysterious, covered passageways, the beautiful inner courtyards and the beautifully decorated facades of Old Lyon - the UNESCO heritage site ? Or walk on the remains of the Roman theater & odeon of Lugdunum ? Did you know that Lyon was also a silk capital? And that today, there's still a possibility to see how it is traditionally crafted and purchase really beautiful silk products? It makes for a really nice souvenir. The route usually starts at the foot of the Fourvière hill and includes visiting extremely well preserved theatre from the times of the Roman Empire and Basilic Fourvière. The route offers a beautiful view at the whole cite of Lyon. Then, you will visit the enchanting old town of the city with its charming streets, nooks and crannies… A walk along one of the numerous bridges taking visitors to the other side of the river and visiting the peninsula where you can find one of the largest accessible for tourists market squares in Europe. . . welcoming tourists . . Louis the XIV and Saint - Exupéry. Then you are taken for a walk along Lyon Champs Elysees which leads them to Terraux Square - there you can see The Opera, the Bartholdi Fountain and the Lyon Market Square, The walk ends in a district Confluence which embodies Lyonian contemporary architecture.
We really enjoyed the tour! Everything was well organized. Gosia was kind, welcoming, and professional. The entire time was used effectively, and we appreciated how smoothly everything was handled. We got a lot of information about Lyon and thanks to Gosia we liked it. Even the weather was great despite the forecast ;-)
Gosia is terrific! It poured that days o we sort of made a different day of it and she was completely flexible. So much knowledge of the city and the history, and so personable!
Gosia took us on a 5-hour walking tour of Old Lyon and adjacent neighborhoods, and we had a spectacular time. She has a French soul, but was born in Poland, so adds a bit of foreign perspective to her analysis of French history and culture. We found her very intelligent, knowledgeable about her subject, fluent in English (and French and Polish), and excited to be a guide (and show off, and explain, her city). And, she inquired about our interests and then customized our tour accordingly. We cannot compliment her too much, she was great (and funny).
Gosia is knowledgeable, professional, and affable guide. We enjoyed both the historical information her perspectives on life in Lyon. We also appreciated how she modified the tour to accommodate our interests. Highly recommend.
Gosia is 5/5. Excellent English and very knowledgeable. Tour is 4/5 only because very physically demanding with much walking, some people should not attempt. Also could be unpleasant if too cold or too hot. Our tour weather was fine. Could offer customization with more time in preferred locations and less in area where we finished up.
