Hi everybody, My name's Jean. I am a tour guide in the beautiful city of Lyon, my hometown. I was born and raised there and it is my pleasure to welcome you to this incredible place. The story of the dark days of the deportation
Overview of your Lyon tour
This 3 hour tour will tell you the story of Judaism in Lyon during WWII. You will see the places where Jews lived their faith and where many were arrested. You will also see the places where the Gestapo and the Nazis tortured their victims and where they organized the repression. I am a child of Lyon and I grew up listening to stories about WWII and how Jews suffered in my hometown. I work for the Museum of the Resistance and Deportation and I have particularly studied this subject. I will take you to places where no groups go to but that are absolutely fondamental if one wants to understand the fate of the Jews in Lyon during the war. This tour is dedicated to the memory of the 6000 victims of the Shoah in Lyon and its region.

• 2nd and 7th district (both districts are the main places representative of the repression against Jews): •The street Sainte Catherine: round-up of February 9, 1943 (moment of remembrance in front of the plaque commemorating this horrible tragedy). •The préfecture du Rhône: official building where, in 1940, the Vichy government enforced its anti-jewish legislation (stop). •The former headquarters of the Gestapo (place Bellecour). And many more. . . Of course, several pauses will allow you to relax :) (Important : this tour is a walking tour and does not show you any replicas of rooms or apartments)
