Hello! My name is Victor, and I’m a licensed tourism provider based in Tokyo. I have been living in Japan for more than 23 years (fully settled here for the past 8 years) and working as a tour guide for over a year. This long journey has given me not only professional experience but also a deep personal understanding of Japanese daily life. I studied Japanese language and culture at university, focusing on history and religion, and I enjoy sharing those insights during my tours. I am also a certified onsen sommelier, which means I can introduce you to Japan’s hot spring traditions and the fascinating culture that surrounds them. Tokyo can feel overwhelming at first — a city of neon lights, ancient temples, skyscrapers, and winding alleys — but my role is to make it welcoming and meaningful. Together, we can explore famous highlights such as the Imperial Palace Gardens, Asakusa’s Sensō-ji Temple, Shibuya Scramble, and Meiji Shrine. If you’d like something more off the beaten path, I also guide visitors through nostalgic areas like Yanaka-Ginza, the bohemian streets of Shimokitazawa, or the maze of subculture shops in Nakano Broadway. Food lovers can start the day with fresh sushi and street snacks at Tsukiji Outer Market, or later dive into Tokyo’s nightlife with izakaya hopping in Shinjuku, Shibuya, or lesser-known neighborhoods like Sangenjaya. For a slower pace, I create tours around gardens, architecture, or even pop culture, always adapted to your interests and rhythm. What makes my tours unique is the balance between knowledge and experience. I design personalized itineraries so every walk fits your pace and interests. I bring in cultural depth, drawing from my studies of Japanese history, religion, and culture to explain how traditions still shape daily life. I also like to show the local lifestyle, whether it’s hidden rooftop gardens, small food stalls, or neighborhoods where everyday Tokyo unfolds. Above all, I keep things flexible, offering small-group walks, family-friendly tours, and specialized themes ranging from shrines and architecture to nightlife and subcultures. Fluent in English, French, and Japanese, I enjoy connecting with people from all backgrounds and making each walk engaging and personal. My goal is simple: to help you experience Tokyo not just as a visitor, but as someone who can truly feel its stories, flavors, and hidden spirit.

Discover Western Tokyo on a journey through three vibrant neighborhoods. We’ll start in Shinjuku, exploring the lively streets and visiting the historic Hanazono Shrine. Next, we’ll head to Nakano, where Sun Mall, Nakano Broadway, and the surrounding alleys reveal a paradise of pop culture and local flavor. Finally, we’ll dive into Koenji, a bohemian hub of vintage shops, street art, and hidden shrines. What makes this tour unique is the perspective I bring: I’ve lived in Japan for over 23 years and made Nakano my home for the past eight years, just 15 minutes by bike from Shinjuku. I’ll show you not only the highlights but also the small details, stories, and everyday moments that bring these neighborhoods to life — an authentic view of Western Tokyo beyond the guidebook.
Shinjuku – Hanazono Jinja & City Stroll We’ll start with a walk through Shinjuku, passing by some of the lively streets and modern landmarks that make this one of Tokyo’s busiest districts. Our main stop here will be Hanazono Jinja, a historic Shinto shrine known for its striking red torii gates and tranquil atmosphere in the middle of the city. Nakano – Pop Culture Paradise We’ll walk through the covered Nakano Sun Mall before arriving at the iconic Nakano Broadway. This shopping complex is a must-visit for fans of anime, manga, and retro collectibles. Beyond Broadway, we’ll take time to explore the back alleys that give Nakano its authentic feel. Koenji – Bohemian & Local Tokyo We’ll wander through its narrow streets lined with vintage clothing shops, small cafés, and live-music venues.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
For this tour we will mainly use the JR Chūō Line, which conveniently connects Shinjuku, Nakano, and Koenji. Each neighborhood is only a short ride away, and most of the sights we’ll visit are located within easy walking distance from the stations. This means less time on transport and more time enjoying the atmosphere of each area. The journey is simple, efficient, and very convenient for exploring these lively districts.
Shinjuku City, Tokyo, 160-0022, Japan
Shinjuku Tourist Information Center From JR Shinjuku Station, exit via the Southeast Exit (東南口 / “Tōnan-guchi”). The Tourist Information Center is located immediately outside this exit, under the Kōshū-Kaidō viaduct. From Tokyo Metro / Toei (Shinjuku-sanchome area), take exit E10 and walk about 2 minutes to reach the building. The building is easy to spot: it sits directly under a bridge. The exterior is mostly grey, but it features a noticeable wooden structure along the façade.
