Fabulous all day tour with Mari! We have been to Tokyo previously but our tour with Mari was our best Tokyo experience . First, Mari is very easy to work with—flexible, professional and tailored the tour to our requests. Second,Mari is very knowledgable and enthusiastic about Tokyo, touring and getting to know her guests. We had a full( but not overly taxing) day of seeing temples, shrines and gardens as we requested, shared a few off the beaten track experiences as well as a delicious local lunch. We highly recommend Mari !

Mari was fantastic. She met me at my hotel, and had a couple of options for me, based on my interests. She was knowledgeable about Tokyo and gave me a good sampling of Japanese culture. I was intent on shopping for Japanese denim and she worked that into our tour, as well. I highly recommend Mari for a taste of Tokyo!

I had an incredible 6-hour Tokyo layover tour with Mari, and I can’t thank her enough for making it one of the best travel experiences of my life. From the moment we met, she made me feel completely secure and in good hands — something that meant a lot as a traveler with limited time. Mari didn’t just show me the city; she tailored every stop around my interests and organized it all so efficiently that we covered more than I thought possible in just a few hours. Mari was such a lovely person, she made our teenage son's fashion shopping dream come true, visiting places that were not easy to come by - she was able to arrange our itinerary so that we saw the most of Shibuya and Harajuku. It was like travelling with a friend from Japan! Her english was also impeccable and very easy to communicate with her. Our whole family really enjoyed the time we had. Thank you Mari!

We did the walking food tour with Mari the day we landed in Tokyo. She gave us great information for the rest of the trip and took us to a couple of delicious restaurants. One was a great place to experience pairing saki with different foods. It was the best saki we ever had! The other was having Wagyu beef cooked right in front of us. It was such a fun experience along with delicious food. We ended up booking her for the next day for a full day walking tour.

We had the most amazing, epic first day in Tokyo thanks to our ToursByLocals tour and guide Mari. Honestly, it's not an exaggeration to say she was easily one of the best guides I've ever had... like, in my decade-plus as a travel writer. She made our first day so stress-free and SO much fun. And went above and beyond. But the true testament to how amazing Mari was came at day's end when my 12-year-old son looked at me and said "This was the best day ever mom." Which filled my heart and was exactly what I was aiming for when I booked her tour (which took us to one shrine and then a bunch of manga and anime places). She also took amazing pictures of us throughout our day, to document our explorations, which was icing on the cake.
