My friend Connie and I had a terrific day with Chie as our tour guide. We wanted a day to get oriented to Tokyo without going to the more traditional spots, and she didn’t disappoint! We saw beautiful blossoms at Rikugien gardens, picked up some delicious sweet potato chips at a store not far from there, visited the pretty Nezu shrine, and wandered the streets of Yanaka Ginza and Kappabashi. Chie even found us a restaurant not too far that was entirely gluten-free, to Connie’s utter delight (finding gluten-free is not easy in Tokyo!) Chie gave us lots of background on history, culture and tradition as we walked. She was very responsive to our interests and her English is great. We highly recommend Chie while in Tokyo!

Meet at your hotel This is your day. I would recommend we see the Shinto shrine (Meiji Jingu) in Harajyuku and the most important Buddhist temple (Sensoji temple) in Asakusa. You can choose 3 or 4 places, 1. Asakusa : the most colorful and nostalgic downtown (where Sensoji is located) 2. Traditional Japanese garden : Hama-rikyu gardens or Rikugien (you can try Japanese tea at the both) or Koishikawa garden 3. Akihabara : shopping district for electronics store & subculture 4. Imperial palace - you cannot see the palace itself 5. Tsukiji market 6. Ginza : shopping area like 5th avenue 7. Harajuku : Meiji jingu shrine and fashion street (Takeshita street ) for young girls 8. Shibuya : famous intersection like Times square 9. other places you would like to go Lunch at a wide variety of restaurants return to your hotel
