Okinawa: The Final Great Battle of World War II

The battle of Okinawa was the longest, bloodiest and the largest sea-land-air in the Pacific War. That is how American people describe the battle.

Okinawan describe it as "the typhoon of steel and bombs!" About one in four Okinawan people perished their lives.

When you climb up to the top of Hacksaw Ridge, you can get a clear idea of how a fierce battle was fought and how tough Desmond Doss served to save 75 soldiers.

In addition to visiting the six places in the itinerary, this tour leads you to witness the locations in the order of major events that happened during the Battle of Okinawa including "The April 1 US Invasion Beach, " "The Kakazu Ridge, " "The Sugar Loaf site, " and "The June 4 US landing on the Oroku Peninsula, " "The Big Apple Ridge, " and "The Mabuni Hill".

The tour visits significant spots on Okinawa's main island for 8 hours (Standard).

The itinerary is flexible; it can be changed by coordination with the guide. The tour time is also changeable from 7 to 10 hours.

My guiding fee is 33 USD hourly (up to 4 pax), so an 8-hour tour costs 33×8=264 USD plus a Meet-up fee (Guide's transportation back and forth to the meeting place): 22 USD (in Naha), so the total guiding fee is 286 USD.

We usually need a rental car or taxi during the tour. The costs of these vehicles vary depending on the conditions. So, before booking, we need to coordinate that and then add the car cost to the tour price. If you book directly without coordination about transportation, you will pay for the transportation during the tour on-site.

My guiding fee is 33 USD hourly (1 to 4 pax); so a 8-hour tour costs 33×8=264 USD plus a Meet-up fee (Guide's transportation back and forth to the meeting place): 22 USD (in Naha), 286 USD is total guiding fee.

We need a suitable-sized rental car (6-10 pax car) or Jumbo taxi (8pax) because the local public transportation is poor.  But its cost are vary depending on the conditions, so I don't include it in the published tour price.  So before booking we need to coordinate about that, then I add it to the tour price before your booking.   

One day war-site tour in Southern Okinawa Island with a local

We will visit must-see places in Naha, including Shuri Castle, the former palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Unfortunately it was burned to the ground but you can see how it is being reconstructed and also enjoy a nice view from on top of the hill.
After Shuri Castle, we will visit a royal garden and shopping street where you can find local food and souvenirs.

We will start with a very refreshing trekking to the Hiji Water Fall (the highest fall in the main island of Okinawa) in Kunigami Village (World Natural Heritage Site) , which reveals Northern Okinawa's subtropical nature. After delicious, healthy Okinawan lunch using locally-grown vegetables or seafood, we stop by the workshop of Bashofu Kimono, which is one of the 16 Okinawan traditional handcraft items designated by the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry. We move on to UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nakijin Castle Site, to deepen your knowledge on the history of Okinawa. We will drive through Kouri Ohashi Bridge to Kouri Island to step onto Heart Rock Beach!

Please be noted that the restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays and the Bashofu Kimono Workshop is closed on Sundays; therefore, this tour cannot be provided on Sundays and Mondays.
