Hello, Hajimemashite! ("Nice to meet you" in Japanese) My name is Akira (Arti) and I would like to be your tour guide when you decide to visit my home country, Japan. First of all, I would like to thank you for looking at my pages. I have been working as a nationally licensed tour guide in Japan since 2010 and JGA class-A guide. I have guided more than 500 groups, working more than 130 days a year. I am a 75 year old male, living in Yokohama suburbs adjacent to Tokyo with my wife. I lived in the USA, Spain and Germany experiencing the local life, culture, language and negotiations. My hobby is riding motorcycles (KTM and Vespa scooters) so I hope to find riders among you travelers too. I travel throughout Japan, not only in guide business, but also on my bikes. My "Around Japan" journey is on its 10th lap and I have been visiting different places and routes every time. That is how I accumulated all the local information which helps me a lot as a guide. I can take you to non tourism places such as various factory tours, utilizing my electrical and mechanical engineering back ground. I have also been a railroad fan since 12 yrs old which helps me to take around travelers to local railroad lines in beautiful sceneries. I lived in the United States for 8 years with my family and have visited 45 countries in the world on business and for pleasure so I understand the people and cultures of many other countries. I recently finished my 6 month Spanish training in Valencia, Spain so I can guide in Spanish, too. My other interest areas are the biology, entomology, linguistics, paleontology and electronics. I am a back alley food gourmet, and of course, I love drinking sake at local back alley taverns, too. So, just email me about your interest in Japan! I am available for multiple days depending on my availability. I own a national license in English speaking guide, itinerary management and an unlimited class motorcycle rider's license. I have been trained in a Japanese and American travel agencies as a guide. I have a master's degree in physics and electronics. I do not drive travelers but need to use publicly available transportation measures. I do not guide underaged persons nor wheel chaired person alone unless accompanied by his/her family due to the local regulations.

Visiting today's most charming spots of Tokyo, feel the beat of this attractive city, guided by your experienced private guide. Through Tokyo's meticulously organized train/subway system we will cover not only the hot spots like Harajuku, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa or Akihabara but also any spot you would like to see. We can tailor arrange our visiting spots according to your group's specific interest. If you have any other specific spot of interest than the listed spots, that will be added or substituted. Note: Sumo training house visit is not a part of this tour. As Tokyo is such a big city, it takes 2. 5 days to cover major tourism spots. Please select 4 to 5 spots for a day. We use public transportation and walk 2 to 3 ml(4 to 6 km) depending on the selected course. Optional privately hired vehicle can be arranged, too.

A meaningful and memorable second day with Mr. Akira Our second day in Tokyo with Mr. Akira was just as exceptional as the first—if not more meaningful. We started at the fish market and enjoyed an incredible sushi lunch, then explored a Shinto temple and a traditional graveyard, walked through a beautiful old town, and visited the Imperial Palace. Each stop was thoughtfully chosen and brought to life through Mr. Akira’s deep knowledge of Japanese history, culture, and traditions. What made this day especially memorable was the personal connection. Mr. Akira shared his own stories and perspectives with my son and me, which made the experience feel far more meaningful than a typical tour. It wasn’t just about seeing Tokyo—it was about understanding it on a deeper level. We continued learning throughout the day, but in a way that felt natural, engaging, and personal. Another outstanding experience—we’re very grateful for our time with Mr. Akira and highly recommend him.
Our first day in Tokyo with Mr. Akira was an incredible way to begin our trip. He guided us through a perfect mix of modern and traditional experiences—from the breathtaking views at Shibuya Sky to the vibrant energy of Shinjuku, balanced with peaceful temples and beautiful cherry blossoms. We also enjoyed a delicious, authentic okonomiyaki lunch and visited a truly unique traditional sword shop. Mr. Akira was extremely knowledgeable and made the entire day both educational and engaging. He shared meaningful insights into Japanese history, culture, and religion, which added depth to everything we experienced. It was a wonderful introduction to Tokyo, and we’re very grateful for the time we spent with him. Highly recommend!

I recently took a fantastic tour of Tokyo, expertly guided by Akira who truly brought the city’s history to life. We started at the serene Imperial East Gardens, exploring Edo Castle ruins and lush landscapes. Then, we wandered through Yanaka, a charming, old-fashioned neighborhood that felt like a step back in time. The visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine was peaceful, surrounded by a beautiful forest in the heart of Tokyo. The tour wrapped up in the vibrant Shinjukudistrict, where modern Tokyo’s neon lights and skyscrapers showcased its dynamic present. Tokyo can be divided into east part(historic/cultural) and new/lively west. Example 1 (west of Tokyo for Youngs) 9:00 Meet at your hotel lobby. Train to Harajuku. • Meijijingu Shinto shrine, walk to Takeshita street, the girls' shopping paradise. • Train to Shibuya. The world busiest pedestrian crossing and Hachi the loyal dog statue. • Train to Shinjuku. The world's busiest station. Omoide Yokocho alley (the end of the world food alley). Godzilla encounter?! Golden Gai corner with 200 of old bars for bar hopping. Train/taxi back to the hotel Example 2 (the east side for seniors) • 9:00 Meet at your hotel lobby • Tran to Tsukiji food market. • Train to Asakusa, the most popular tourism spot in Tokyo • Train to Akihabara, the subculture and nerds town. • Train to Yanaka, the old residential district with the local people's life Please pick up 4 spots to organize your itinerary.
