Hi everybody, My name's Jean. I am a tour guide in the beautiful city of Lyon, my hometown. I was born and raised there and it is my pleasure to welcome you to this incredible place. What I want is to tell you stories. I believe in the magical power of stories, because no matter where we come from, stories connect us and invite us on wonderful journeys! Stories are universal and carry values that we all cherish, so if you love stories, I am your man. I graduated in Art History and Archeology, but I am passionate about World War II and the history of the Jewish people. I studied also the American Civil War and the world of the impressionists. All this background has helped me to always keep in mind one important thing that my father also told me : history is great when it's shared. My goal is to reveal you the different sides of my hometown, so that you become, at the end of your tour, a real Lyonnais! But of course, I am at your entire disposal if you want to make trips outside Lyon to places such as the Beaujolais Wine Country for instance! Ask me and I will deliver. See you soon in Lyon my dear friends, Jean - I have been vaccinated against COVID-19 (your security is my TOP priority) - Licensed Tour Guide - Graduate of Art History and Archeology - Guide in the Museum of the Resistance and Deportation in Lyon - Guide for river cruising companies like Viking River Cruises, AmaWaterways and Uniworld

This 3 hour tour will tell you the story of Lyon during WWII. Lyon is the capital of the Resistance and its population is proud of it. Why was Lyon so important ? What made Lyon so special ? This tour answers these very important questions. This particular period has always interested me personally as my hometown is the capital of the Resistance. It led me to work for the Museum of the Resistance and Deportation as a licensed guide. I have been able to study this topic with historians and archivists. You will see the places where the Resistants printed their clandestine newspapers, where Jews lived their faith and where many were arrested, where the Resistants hid while organizing their networks and where many plaques celebrate the memory of those who died for their country. You will also see the places where the Gestapo and the Nazis tortured their victims and where they organized the repression. Come on this tour with a proud son of Lyon. If you are passionate about WWII, this is a tour made for you !
7th District and City Center (Important : this tour does not show you any replicas of clandestine printer's, rooms or apartments) Note: the itinerary can be customized according to your interests and needs. Please contact me for more details
