TOURSBYLOCALS SHINING STAR AWARD WINNER | LICENSED GUIDE & ART HISTORIAN | SKIP-THE-LINE ACCESS Being a guide is in my DNA- quite literally, in fact, as my mother, too, was a tour guide. Yet when I was young, I was determined NOT to become a guide, and obtained a Degree in Art History (2001). Of course, I wasn’t going to outrun my destiny that easily! To me, Barcelona is an ‘open-air museum’, and I soon found it unbearable to be locked away in an art gallery, while there was so much to see and show out on the streets. So, in 2010, I surrendered, and became a Fully Licensed Tour Guide. That day was the first day of the rest of my life, my personal “wow” moment, as I discovered my lifetime passion. I was recently awarded TBL’s SHINING STAR AWARD (2025), which was an enormous honour (although, of course, Barcelona’s only true shining star stands majestically at the top of the Sagrada Familia). Yet my true reward is when, at the end of a tour, I see my passion reflected in my guests. I just can’t help it… I don’t want you to like Barcelona; I want you to be blown away by Barcelona! If you read my reviews, you will see my guests leave eager to come back; which, I am delighted to say, many of them do, forging invaluable friendships over time. As your guide, I will take you over and beyond “sightseeing”. I don’t want you to just see Picasso, I want you to experience Picasso and understand what he meant to the 20th Century. I don’t want you to just see Gaudí; I want you to discover how his creativity, symbolism and deep connection to nature transform his monuments into multi-sensory experiences. I am so proud to be a barcelonina... I still get goose bumps when I remember the 1992 Olympic Games when, for the first time, we showed the world Barcelona’s tremendous potential. Barcelona is nothing short of a masterpiece, the Mediterranean turned into a city; a city where the streets are structured but façades are shaped like waves. A city built on a base of solid engineering, but overflowing with creativity, like Gaudí’s architecture. Barcelona is so much more than can be seen at face value, and my mission is to do justice to our heritage by showing you, my guests, the hidden layers and details, so you too have that “wow” moment. It would not only be a pleasure, but a true honour to be your guide. So, wait no more, and let my Barcelona blow you away! Hasta pronto, fins aviat, see you soon!

Barcelona knows Gaudí through postcards and icons, but this tour goes deeper, revealing the architect before he became a legend. Created for the Gaudí Year, marking 100 years since his death and the completion of the Sagrada Família’s highest spire, The Hidden Wonders of Gaudí explores the places where his ideas first took shape. We begin at Casa Vicens, a vibrant summer house in Gràcia where nature seems to grow indoors and Gaudí’s creative language is already unfolding through color, symbolism, and craftsmanship. As we move through the city, exterior views of Casa Calvet, Casa Batlló, and La Pedrera trace his evolution from experimentation to mastery. The experience culminates at Palau Güell, discreet on the outside and extraordinary within — a dramatic world of light, space, and music that reveals the close bond between Gaudí and his patron, Eusebi Güell. A thoughtful, intimate tour for curious travelers, far from the crowds.
• Interior visit to Casa Vicens, Gaudí’s first completed building — a former summer house in Gràcia commissioned by a stockbroker. Inside, ferns seem to grow from the walls as the boundaries between nature and architecture dissolve. • Tracing Gaudí’s evolution as an architect, from early experimentation to mature urban projects, with exterior explanations of Casa Calvet, Casa Batlló, and La Pedrera, highlighting contrasts, symbolism, and innovation. • Interior visit to Palau Güell, a true declaration of intent by both Gaudí and Eusebi Güell — a hidden world of light, music, and theatrical space, with a discreet street façade concealing a surprising interior. Practical note: • If you prefer not to walk the full route, we can easily take a taxi or metro from near Casa Vicens to Palau Güell. Alternative option: • Casa Vicens and Palau Güell can be replaced by Bellesguard, Gaudí’s lesser-known neo-Gothic masterpiece.

We can walk — 3.6 km, about 45 minutes, enjoying the buildings along the way. Or, if you prefer, we can take the metro or a taxi.
20-26 Carrer de les Carolines, Barcelona, Catalunya, 08012, Spain
Corgi Cafe Carrer d’Aulèsia i Pijoan, (Barcelona) We can meet at your hotel, of course. However, to make the most of our time, I usually recommend meeting directly at Cafe Corgi very close to Casa Vicens.
