On Sundays, when the Cathedral is closed for tourism or you don't feel like going up to the tower, we could visit the Archaeological Museum instead.

Back to the Prehistory in Asturias: Tito Bustillo Cave and Jurassic Coast Tour

Do you want to learn more about Asturias' prehistoric treasures? Then travel back to the prehistory with me and discover World Heritage Site Tito Bustillo, Ardines Cave and Asturias' Jurassic Coast!

Before moving to Asturias, I didn't know that you could find some of Europe's most spectacular cave art here. Or that Asturias was once inhabited by dinosaurs, let alone, that you can still discover their tracks! By combining my scientific background in environmental sciences and my personal interest in history, I designed this tour to amaze visitors about the prehistoric treasures of Asturias.

We'll visit the most impressive "panel" of World Heritage Site Tito Bustillo Cave, discovered in 1968, with over 100 figures, among which the famous depictions of bovines, horses and deer. I also guide you through the Jurassic Museum of Asturias to tell you everything about these impressive reptiles. This tour further includes a great stroll along Asturias' beautiful coastline to search for original dinosaur footprints.

Oviedo and Gijon shorex: two cities, one unique experience

What our guests value most about this tour is that has been designed to explore the two most important cities of Asturias: the monumental capital "Oviedo", and the bustling and summer "Gijón" known as the "capital of the green coast".

We'll visit the Gothic cathedral of Oviedo, where stands out its extraordinary altarpiece of the XVI century, and its Holy Chamber. We'll stroll around the alleys and corners of the medieval city and admire the market of El Fontán with its Cantabrian fish, Asturian meats, or its 40 cheeses (the largest cheese stain in all of Europe) where l have memories of my childhood running among the stalls and tasting those typical flavours.

We'll recharge energy tasting the world-famous Asturian cider, authentic nectar created by Celts and proudly maintained by the Asturian generations and which I personally love!

Gijón comes next. We'll enjoy amazing views from the Cape of San Lorenzo, its impressive beach of more than 3 km and relax sorrounded by nature: perfect for shooting photos!

Coast of Spain: Llanes & Ribadesella - Full Day Shore Excursion

Llanes means "flat" in Spanish, but nothing is flat in the Principality of Asturias. In this charming town between the Cantabrian Sea and Sierra del Cuera, I'll show you many interesting constructions, ranging from temples, palaces, medieval architecture & traditional houses, such as those of the Indiano, a term we have for emigrants who came back to our region after being abroad.

We'll also explore the local Fish Auction Market, the port, the river and some pastry shops where we'll have a break to taste a yummy casadiella with cofee or tea. Then, heading to Ribadesella, we'll leave the highway to use the local road stopping at some nice, peculiar beaches on the way (Torimbia & San Antolín).

Ribadesella means "On the Banks of River Sella. There we'll see the 2 Ribadesellas: One's a traditional fishing port with a Town Hall, a Church and the Chapel of the Guide, plus a Boulevard named after a princess. The other one is a residential area by the beach with nice houses from the beginning of the 20th century.

Gijon Family day trip: Jurassic Coast Tour

Are your curious to learn more about the presence of dinosaurs in Asturias? Do you literally want to step into their footprints? Would you like to enjoy fresh seafood looking out over the Cantabrian Sea? Then join my tour 'Walking with Dinosaurs': is the perfect combo experience for families, adults and kids!

The coast between Gijon and Ribadesella in Asturias is also called 'Dinosaur Coast'. This is because of the abundant presence of original dinosaur footprints and fossil bones from dinosaurs and other Jurassic reptiles.

In this trip we'll go back to the past in the Jurassic Museum of Asturias, where you'll learn all about the presence of dinosaurs in Asturias among Real-life dinosaurs that 'live' in the garden around the museum! Then, we'll take a short walk along the coast to search for dinosaur footprints (they are among the largest in the world!): lot of fun activity, I guarantee!

Oviedo and Gijón: history and local Gastronomy tour

In my experienced opinion this is the best combo tour to experience Asturias: highlights and traditional food under the guide with a passion about his born land that only a local can have!

We will visit the two most important cities of the region (Oviedo and Gijón).

Oviedo (Asturias capital) is our first stop: here I'll invite you to let yourself be dazzled by the fabulous cathedral with its main altarpiece and its Holy chamber (Unesco Heritage). Discover all the medieval flavour of the city by strolling through its streets full of houses with emblems and palaces. Avilés, Spain - Half Day Shore Excursion

Avilés might not be the either the capital city or the biggest city in Asturias, and it may not be as famous as Oviedo or Gijón, but DO NOT MISS IT!

Among the many churches and palaces to be found in its historical quarter, you'll have beautiful examples of Romanesque & Baroque art. On this tour we'll also pass by the stunning Town Hall building and the outstanding Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center.

There's another monument that we'll come across that you might be curious about: a statue of Pedro Méndez de Áviles, who in the 17th century managed to conquer Florida, in the United States of America. Actually, the oldest Street in the oldest city in the United States is called Aviles Street in Saint Augustine (Florida). I'll tell you why during the tour.

Also, did you know that Asturias produces dozens of different varieties of cheese? We'll finish the tour tasting some typical cheese and Asturian cider in an Asturian Sidrería.

Asturias Nature wonders: Picos de Europa and Covadonga Lakes

The Lagos de Covadonga are the main tourist attraction of Asturias. No wonder, because visiting the lakes and their surroundings immerse you in Asturias' unique historical, spiritual and natural heritage you don't want to miss! With my background in environmental sciences, I can also tell you everything about the genesis and (natural) history of Spain's first NP and its current meaning for Asturian flora and fauna.

This full day tour leads you from Cangas de Onis via Covadonga into the mountains to the most visited part of the Picos de Europa.

Cangas de Onís village is one of the gateways into Picos de Europa National Park. Its (restored) Roman bridge with the Victory Cross hanging below is one of the most photographed monuments of Asturias: here you will shoot good holiday memories!

In Covadonga you'll see the Santa Cueva de Covadonga, a cave that is home to the Virgin of Covadonga, a neo-Romanesque chapel and the tomb of King Pelayo I of Asturias, before we drive into the mountains at 3, 720ft.

No one who calls himself an Asturian, can avoid getting excited when visiting the places where we will go today. The breath will be cut off as we climb to 1. 200 meters high and discover the National Park of Peaks of Europe and its renowned lakes of Enol and Ercina: we'll be thrilled with our walk in such an unrivalled place.

What our guests enjoy most about the tour, is feeling part of the history of Spain, and the fact that feelings will always be in full bloom. Just imagine that we'll visit the place where our nation was created, thanks to the Battle of Covadonga and our first king Pelayo! We will visit his tomb, and the place where the cradle of Spain (the cave of Covadonga) is located where the Blessed Virgin " The Santine" awaits us, and the world-famous paradise.

I wasn't born in Gijón, but this is the city I chose to live in, because this is where I feel like I'm home. Also, I know I'm not the only one with this feeling, and I hope you will have it too.

Gijón is not the capital city of Asturias, but it is the biggest city in the region. On this tour we'll visit the Labour University with its beautiful patios, which is the biggest building in Spain. Afterwards, we'll visit the biggest Botanical Gardens in the Iberian Peninsula. I had the pleasure to participate as a guide in the "open doors" month when it was inaugurated!

In the middle of our tour, we'll visit a charming 30s art deco coffee shop in order to taste typical chocolate con churros.

Finally we'll have a walk in the historical area called Cimadevilla between the beach and the sports harbour and
holds interesting monuments such as St. Peter's Church, the City Hall and the Roman Walls.

One of the ways the people from Oviedo (Ovetense) like to spend their free time, is to hike, cycle or skate along a so-called 'Senda Verde' (Green Route). Then, they want to relax and have a tasty, big warm lunch. This tour gives you the opportunity to be a real Ovetense by walking a 10k Senda Verde, relaxing in an 18th century Spa and enjoying a typical Asturias 'Menu del Dia'!

This tour is perfect for people who like to have an easy walk close to Oviedo and at the same time experience Asturias' countryside. Why this tour is special? Because you are going to visit some of the most famous monuments in Spain, we'll approach Mount Naranco where, in addition to stunning views, it is a place that brings back memories of "La vuelta" (one of the most famous stages on the cycling tour of Spain) and we'll get to know the history of unique monuments in Europe, Asturian pre-Romanesque (ninth century).

Let's go back in time 1200 years and recreate the history moment where the most important monuments of the Asturian monarchy (the oldest Christian in the world) were born: Santa María del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo (Unesco) where I will tell you all the stories and life of King Ramiro I.

We'll continue with a small stop in the building created by the Spanish architect Calatrava, and we'll visit the Cathedral of the Savior with the 3rd most important altarpiece in Spain and birthplace of "El Camino" of Santiago as the pilgrims sang "who goes to Santiago and not the Savior, serves the servant, and leaves the Lord"

There are films, books, lectures… about the Spanish Civil War. However, few know abroad how everything started and it was exactly here in Asturias. If you want to understand and also help me to understand with your questions such a horrible event while you enjoy green landscapes and a manificent city (Oviedo) reborn after so much destruction, prepare confortable shoes to go into machine gun nests and walk in Oviedo.

Moreover, Oviedo is the starting point of the Primitive St. James Way and Grado (where the remains are) is the first stop so we'll perhaps see pilgrim walking by like in the Middle Ages.

A Taste of the Camino de Santiago: Guided Hiking tour

Have you heard about the Camino de Santiago and even considered walking one of its iternaries (yes, there are multiple routes!)? But do you not have the possibility to take a few weeks off, or are you doubting whether you are able to hike 20-30 km for multiple days in a row? This tour offers you the possibility to experience the 'Camino Primitivo' in one day!

Walking the Camino is a great way to intensively experience the Asturian countryside and meet people from all over the world. That's exactly why I enjoy walking parts of the Camino in Asturias and take people along with me! Given their feedback ("most pleasant hours I spent in Spain"; "once in a lifetime experience") show that people really love this tour.

The whole route is around 12 km in length, requiring a good physical condition as well as hiking experience and proper clothing and shoes.

Lunch: Traditional Asturian lunch, usually a "Menu del Dia" (starter, main dish and desert, 1 soft drink or wine or beer included). 
Snacks during our hike: bottle of water, traditional Asturian pastry, bag of local potato chips.
