TOURSBYLOCALS SHINING STAR AWARD WINNER | LICENSED GUIDE & ART HISTORIAN | SKIP-THE-LINE ACCESS Being a guide is in my DNA- quite literally, in fact, as my mother, too, was a tour guide. Yet when I was young, I was determined NOT to become a guide, and obtained a Degree in Art History (2001). Of course, I wasn’t going to outrun my destiny that easily! To me, Barcelona is an ‘open-air museum’, and I soon found it unbearable to be locked away in an art gallery, while there was so much to see and show out on the streets. So, in 2010, I surrendered, and became a Fully Licensed Tour Guide. That day was the first day of the rest of my life, my personal “wow” moment, as I discovered my lifetime passion. I was recently awarded TBL’s SHINING STAR AWARD (2025), which was an enormous honour (although, of course, Barcelona’s only true shining star stands majestically at the top of the Sagrada Familia). Yet my true reward is when, at the end of a tour, I see my passion reflected in my guests. I just can’t help it… I don’t want you to like Barcelona; I want you to be blown away by Barcelona! If you read my reviews, you will see my guests leave eager to come back; which, I am delighted to say, many of them do, forging invaluable friendships over time. As your guide, I will take you over and beyond “sightseeing”. I don’t want you to just see Picasso, I want you to experience Picasso and understand what he meant to the 20th Century. I don’t want you to just see Gaudí; I want you to discover how his creativity, symbolism and deep connection to nature transform his monuments into multi-sensory experiences. I am so proud to be a barcelonina... I still get goose bumps when I remember the 1992 Olympic Games when, for the first time, we showed the world Barcelona’s tremendous potential. Barcelona is nothing short of a masterpiece, the Mediterranean turned into a city; a city where the streets are structured but façades are shaped like waves. A city built on a base of solid engineering, but overflowing with creativity, like Gaudí’s architecture. Barcelona is so much more than can be seen at face value, and my mission is to do justice to our heritage by showing you, my guests, the hidden layers and details, so you too have that “wow” moment. It would not only be a pleasure, but a true honour to be your guide. So, wait no more, and let my Barcelona blow you away! Hasta pronto, fins aviat, see you soon!

Overview of your Barcelona tour

Everyone calls this area the Gothic Quarter, but not me. Join me on a fascinating journey through its ancient, narrow streets and discover what I prefer to call it, and why. As a graduate in Art History, I can give you a unique insight into the area's architecture, history and art. Following in the steps of the Romans, we will walk by medieval walls, an ancestral market and a Gothic cathedral. We will discover a Jewish Quarter that still remembers gloomy but glorious times, as it stands proudly among century-old shops and buildings damaged during the Civil War. What's more, I will show you how authenticity is hidden in the details, in the secrets that lie beyond the obvious. And it is then that you will understand how only a place with roots as deep and firm as those of the 'Gothic Quarter', could have given rise to an artist of the magnitude of Picasso. In his own words, 'the place where it all began'. In this last part of the tour, we will visit his early works and discover how Pablo grew… into PICASSO

**Absolutely Fascinating Picasso & Gothic Quarter Tour with Suzie** This was an exceptional tour with Suzie and one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Barcelona. Her depth of knowledge, storytelling, and enthusiasm made both the Gothic Quarter and the Picasso Museum come alive in a way that exploring on our own never could have. Walking through the Gothic Quarter with Suzie was an experience in itself. As we wandered through the old town and cathedral, she continually pointed out details that most people simply walked by without noticing—markings on building walls, details in the streets and walkways, and architectural features we absolutely would have missed on our own. She also shared recommendations for restaurants, drinks, shopping, and other local spots, which made the tour feel personal and helped us enjoy Barcelona beyond the history and art. The Picasso Museum was absolutely fascinating. Suzie took us through each period of Picasso’s life and connected his personal evolution to the artwork we were seeing. As we moved from piece to piece, she would pull up additional images on her phone as reference points and comparisons, helping us understand how his style developed and what was influencing him at different stages of his career. What made the experience particularly memorable was how she connected everything together. Room by room, it felt as though she was telling us the story of Picasso’s life and artistic development, showing how one period led to another. She also made connections to artists such as Cézanne, Goya, Matisse, and El Greco, explaining both who influenced Picasso and how his work influenced others. We especially appreciated that Suzie shared her own opinions and perspectives rather than simply telling us what we were supposed to think. Her observations encouraged us to look more closely, question what we were seeing, and form our own opinions about Picasso's work and life. It made the experience much more thoughtful and engaging. By the end, it felt like Suzie had taken us through a visual biography of Picasso while also giving us a deeper appreciation for Barcelona itself. She is warm, patient, engaging, and incredibly generous with her knowledge. If you have an interest in art, history, architecture, or simply want to understand Barcelona beyond the surface, I cannot recommend this tour with Suzie highly enough. An outstanding tour, an outstanding guide, an oustanding experience.

Actually we changed our schedule. Suzi did outstanding work to give us more Gaudi which was of greater interest for us . She got us sold out entry to the Gaudi cathedral church and took us to his colonial church in the workers village outside of Barcelona. A really special up close and personal view of Gaudi’s work Suzi has an incredible sense of what the client really enjoys and makes suggestions that may be of to the client. That results in the client getting what he really wants and needs w make his tour exceptionally great all done by Suzi seemingly effortlessly, with a smile. She just glows fulfilling the client’s curiosity and the client’s feeling of unexpected successful tour and experience. She is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

We had an absolutely terrific time with Suzie at both the Picasso Museum and Sagrada Família. She put the tour of the 2 sites together for an afternoon of art and architecture history. Suzie was so engaging that we quickly felt like lifelong friends. Her talent for interpretation and teaching was manifest as she both pointed out details and also explained the larger meaning and significance of what we were experiencing. We had visited Sagrada Família before, but learned so much more. As for the Picasso Museum, I gained an understanding and appreciation of the artist far beyond what I thought I already knew. She covered a lot of art and history in one afternoon, but we never felt rushed. Next time we are in Barcelona we will definitely look to Suzie for her tours.

Your Barcelona tour itinerary

Do you have 2 days or 8 hours to visit the city? Then I recommend that you combine this tour with the tour 'Wonders of Gaudi'. The meet & greet point is entirely up to you. I am always happy to meet you at your hotel or any other place of your choice. However, personally I prefer to meet at the starting point of the tour, so as not to lose valuable tour time. My suggested itinerary*: - Las Ramblas: the city's most emblematic avenue, with an essential stop at its nearly 200-year-old Boqueria Market. - Roman Aqueduct and Walls: the city's founding stones - Cathedral: visit to Barcelona's only Cathedral - Jewish Heritage: discover the traces of an era - Plaça del Rei: visit to a Medieval Palace and its Throne Room - Born: the Medieval heart of industry - Picasso Museum: early works In addition to these specific tour highlights, along the way we will also discover churches and genuine, centenary shops, among other treasures. *All my tours can be customized, increasing their length and/or content.
