I was born and raised in one of the most authentic district of Venice, Cannaregio. After a degree in languages the love for my city, history and art, brought me directly into the professional world of turism, starting as tour leader/escort in 2008 to then get a license as a tour guide 3 years ago. I think that the beauty of the city is the city itself, the little details, secrets, hidden behind a corner the make Venice so unique. I like to show my clients the various aspects of the city, the showpieces as well as the unknown places, the famous islands and the little ones spreaded around the lagoon. We'll be walking through "Cannaregio", a very local and characteristic district away from the crowd, to experience a bit of local lifestyle. We'll visit the Jewish Ghetto, the gothic church of "Madonna dell'orto" with some marvelous Tintoretto's paintings, the "Scuola Grande della Misericordia" and to finish the tour in an unusual way you'll have 1h rowing lesson on board on a historical venetian boat with a local rowing master that will teach you how to row the "venetian" way. From the canals the view of the city is unique.
Matt is personable, knowledgeable and energetic making him a great fit for our family. He met us at our hotel on a Saturday morning then led us on a behind-the-scenes walk through various Venice neighborhoods. Being a heat wave day, we decided to skip the rowing lessons and instead focused our time on seeing the city. It was fun hearing his stories as a local and understanding the perspective of a true Venetian native. Highly recommended for his energy and friendliness!
We enjoyed our tour with Mattia. We asked him to create a four hour tour for us that included gondola rowing lessons, a tour of the Jewish ghetto, and some local food and drink around dinner time. Mattia delivered! He met us at the hotel and we walked through Venice on our way to rowing lessons. Mattia was absolutely amazing - our family of 4 had the best tour imaginable by Mattia in Venice. He knew exactly how to keep everyone engaged, educated and entertained the entire time, and arranged for us to take a gondola class at the end of our tour with an amazing place that teaches the goldoleers how to control these boats. Highly recommend Mattia!
