Welcome to Veneto! I 'm Sabrina and I am an authorized and passionate tourist guide, working in the Province of Venice and Treviso. I've been working in tourism since 2005 and being a tour guide has always been my dream. It goes without saying, that I love Italy as well as the region where I was born, Veneto. I am very proud of being Italian and taking tourists around to discover the treasures of my home land is most rewarding indeed. I have always been fascinated by the past, because the past provides the insight needed to uncover the reasons for the present. After my diploma in Tourism, I took a Master Degree in Language Sciences, focusing on Germanic Philology. I wanted to satisfy my curiosity by discovering historical works and languages, following the path of the history of human kind. I took many exams about Venetian history, and I also studied for a semester at the Warwick University in the UK and at the Venice International University. I am now studying to get a second Degree in Art History. These in short are but a few of the reasons why I am passionate about my work: I love observing past artwork and understanding its history, as well as sharing my knowledge with others. I try to pass on this enthusiasm of mine to everyone I meet. In this way they too can see the world with wonder, just as I do. If you want to see the two most important buildings of Venice, and discover the history of this wonderful place, do not miss this tour! I'll take you inside the amazing St. Mark's Basilica and I'll lead you around in the Doge's Palace, nowadays the most important museum of Venice, in the past the seat of the government and magistracies of the Venetian Republic. I am specialized in Byzantine Architecture, so you'll be in good hands! N. B. In order to get to the terrace in St. Mark's Basilica, you have to be able to climb a steep staircase. The climb is not suitable for people who are claustrophobic or suffer from vertigo. If you don't think you can go up to the terrace, visit of that part can be avoided and we can go to the Pala D'Oro, the golden altarpiece hidden behind the altar.
-The tour starts with a short introduction about Venice and its history. -We'll admire the wonderful buildings located in Saint Mark's square, ever since the most important square of Venice. -We'll then get into Saint Mark's Basilica, to admire the wonderful golden mosaics and we'll go up to the terrace, from where you'll enjoy a breathtaking view over Saint Mark's square. -The tour will then continue to the Doge's Palace, the old seat of the government of the former Venetian Republic. We'll admire the wonderful paintings that decorate its institutional chambers, that were meant the impress the visitors and ambassadors that came into the building in the past. -We will also cross the famous Bridge of Sights to get into the old prison!
