Ciao, I'm Nicoletta! Welcome to my ToursByLocals Venice page. I'm a local, I'm an Art Historian, I've worked as a professional certified private guide since 2009 and I love this job. I love staying with people, I love Venice, its light, its Art, its Beauty, and I consider it a privilege to share it with people that really wants to understand and appreciate it. Venice is so beautiful and fragile, and I think that showing its real Beauty I will help people to respect it. Since my graduation in "Art History and Conservation of Cultural Heritage", in 2002, with a thesis on cultural aspects of the Venetian mainland, I have worked in educational programs of some of the major museums of Venice (Correr, Accademia Galleries, Doge's Palace, Peggy Guggenheim): I've worked with schools, families and groups of children, developing particular tours to explain art and history in an exciting way. I've led some special tours focusing on the discovery of the Lagoon and its nature, too, for children and adults. In the same years, as a journalist and an art critic, I have developed a special passion for Contemporary Art, and I have published reviews and small catalogues for several artists. In 2009 I gained the license to work as a professional guide in Venice, so I can now share my knowledge and passion for Art, History, and the wonderful city of Venice, with its fancy palaces and narrow streets, its dark sotoporteghi and canals, its unique history and nature. As a certified tourist guide I can bring you everywhere and explain you any sites and museums in Venice and in Veneto Region. I love food and wine, too, and I've created some itineraries for people that want to discover the traditional cuisine of my city. And, being Mum of two little and wonderful kids, I know how to comunicate the Beauty of Venice to the youngest ones. Having worked for so many years in Venice with different people of different age from all over the word, I have developed a strong attitude to problem solving: you will be in very good and expert hands! Venice in the past Centuries was a great, independent Country. Come to visit the heart of the City: starting with an historical introduction in the Saint Mark's Square, we will see the Doge's Palace, that was the seat of the Venetian government until 1797, and the Basilica of St Mark, one of the most important Byzantine architecture in the world, impressive with its gilded mosaics and wonderful marbles. Following some of the less beaten paths of the City (to see Santa Maria Formosa, Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Marco Polo's House), we will then reach the Rialto food market, to see one of the most lively places in Venice, where you will appreciate how many different kind of fishes the lagoon offers today. You will learn how Venice was able to become one of the richest countries of Europe, thanks to the spices, gold, precious wares that the Venetian merchants imported from the Eastern Countries, you will see its Beauty, you will understand where to find some of the best shops and restaurants in the City.
Nicoletta C was a fabulous guide. She went at our pace, provided voluminous details that we wanted to learn, took us places we would have never seen and generally gave us an unbelievably positive perspective on Venice and its history.
Nicoletta was fabulous; Dianne and I had her as our tour guide for two days during which she displayed first rate knowledge of Italian History, art and architecture as she took us all over Venice. Nicoletta is very kind hearted. I use a walker because of my back, but she carried my walker up and down the many stairs of Venice while I used the railing; otherwise, I would not have been able to tour Venice. We highly recommend her.

We booked Nicoletta for a 3 hour walking tour of Venice, our first trip to the city. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is highly knowledgable and personable and can tailor the tour to suit. Unfortunately, the weather for our tour was horrendous (torrential rain!) but that did not dampen her enthusiasm to show us the sights, taking us under cover where possible and talking us through the monuments, museums and palaces. I would have no hesitation in booking Nicoletta again.
We just got home from our dream trip to Italy. We LOVED our tour with Nicoletta through Venice! She was extremely informative and flexible as we had 3 teenagers with us. Her personality fit our group perfectly. We ran into some rain and she handled all of that like a pro. She even took us to the BEST gelato place we experienced on our entire trip! -From the chosen meeting point, we will go to the Piazza San Marco, where I will explain you the Square and all the monuments around it -We will enter the Saint Mark's Basilica, where you will admire the wonderful Byzantine mosaics and the beautiful marbles in it. YOU MUST BUY ONLINE TICKETS -Then, following some of the less beaten paths, we will walk to the Rialto bridge, and we will cross it to see the open air market on the other side of the Gran Canal. St. Mark's church is open from Monday to Saturday, 9h45>17h00 On Sunday, 14h00>16h00 Please, be sure to bring something to cover your legs and your shoulders.
