Ciao I'm Francesca, welcome to my Toursbylocals Venice page. I was born in Sicily a beautiful island in Southern Italy where I lived for 20 years. I moved later on to Florence to attend university there where I graduated in Byzantine Archaeology. I completed my studies in Siena where I've got a master in Preservation of Cultural Heritage. In 2008 I moved to Venice where I fell in love with this unique city and I decided then to stay for ever! I became a tourist guide because I like people and impress them. I love to show my city and let visitors discover its many wonders. My tours are not just meant to provide knowledge on the art, history and architecture of Venice but they are a fun experience too. I'm not a teacher delivering a boring lecture but a friend ready to fulfil your curiosity. Don't worry, weird questions are allowed too! Venice is a city made in the water and you couldn't understand completely its own double nature, if you don't discover it from the water! And you need a local guide to enjoy it! I'm still amazed by this city which comes out from the water as magic, and I want to share this feeling with you! In this tour you'll visit the most famous highlights of Venice- as Saint Mark square, the Saint Mark Basilica, the Doge's Palace, the bridge of sighs, campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo and Rialte. Next we will enjoy a relaxing journey cruising through Venice's charming canals in a beautiful private boat - truly a special way to experience Venice from the water.
-Our tour will start in Saint Mark square, the heart of Venice. At the winged lion shadow we'll learn something about the history of the longest lived Republic in the history of the world. -After an exiting visit at the millenary church of Saint Mark, admiring the incredible golden mosaics, we'll start to discover the real Venice, crossing charming bridges, walking in dark narrow streets. -We'll see the famous bridge of sighs and you'll discover why it has this particular name; we'll go to the Castello district, visiting the nice "Campo Santa Maria Formosa", and its beautiful architectures. -Later we'll get to Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, decorated with a bronze monument by Verrocchio (Leonardo da Vinci's teacher). -We'll get to Rialto bridge, where we can admire the most beautiful road of the world, reaching the market area the oldest part of city, birthplace of many modern economy settings. -We'll finish with a relaxing watertaxi ride, crossing charming canal
