Venice Bike Tour: The Beach Of The Venetians

Lido is the beach of the Venetians and as a local I love to go there to swim, walk, run or cycle enjoying its sea breeze and nature. The island was also very loved by European aristocratic families during the Belle Époque period at the beginning of the 20th century. They used to spend their holidays in its grand hotels along the beach, like the Excelsior and the Des Bains that inspired Thomas Mann's book 'Death in Venice' and where the movie itself was filmed. Lido is famous nowadays in particular for the Venice Film Festival that takes place at the end of Summer. During these days Lido becomes the red carpet for movie stars chased by photographers along the beach, exclusive parties in the hotels and many cinema lovers. This tour will give you the possibility to discover a different and unexpected side of Venice, away from the city centre, between lagoon and sea with its own charming history.

-Once we meet in front of the church opposite the Lido waterbus stop, we'll reach the close by bike shop where we'll hire your bikes. -From there we'll pedal along the Gran Viale, the island's high street, famous for its beautiful Liberty style buildings and then along the lagoon and the seaside roads. -Lido is an amazing island between the Venetian lagoon and the Adriatic sea, with many gardens and green areas. -You will discover how this island represents a corner of peace and leisure away from the crowds of the city centre. -If it's a nice hot and sunny day take your swimming costume so we can also stop for a nice swim!
