Buongiorno! Nice to meet you! I am Abigail, a proud Italian with an English mother and Italian father. I am an Art History expert and I would love to share with you my passion for the two Italian cities I love the most, Venice and Rome! I have studied the history of art and painting in Venice during high school and then graduated with honours in Management of Cultural Tourism. I have always loved art together with travelling and discovering all aspects of culture. During my university career I experienced one year abroad with a scholarship in Spain and also took part in a prestigious internship with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, one of my favourite museums in town. Just after graduation I studied for my tour leader and tour guide licenses and then attended several art history courses in Rome and the UK. Since then I have been sharing the beauty of Venice and Rome with visitors from all over the world. I love meeting people and I hope I will manage to make your day memorable! :) Official Tour Guide License; Official Tour Leader License; Degree with Honours in Management of Cultural Tourism; Venice Peggy Guggenheim Collection Guide; Vatican Museums Authorised Tour Guide; Venice Port Authority License.

The Doge's Palace was the political centre of Venice, it hosted the government and the city court together with the apartments of the Doge when Venice was a Republic. The Palace is an amazing example of Venetian Gothic architecture and stands along the waterfront overlooking the Lagoon. We'll discover the history of the Republic and the beautiful rooms of the Palace decorated with masterpieces by Venetian painters such as Tintoretto and Paolo Veronese. These masters where chosen by the Venetian government with the aim to represent the power of Venice on water and on land, using exquisite colours and light to define religious and political scenes. You will be captured by the scale and beauty of their art. The tour continues with the Basilica dedicated to S. Marco, a typical example of Byzantine style decorated with 8000 sqm of breathtaking golden mosaics. Walking inside the Basilica is like entering a jewelry box full of golden reflections and an immense variety of colours, it is a real lifetime experience.
-Meeting point under the stone pillar with the winged lion in S. Mark's square near the water front. -Entrance to the Doge's Palace followed by a break for the use of restrooms if necessary and bar. -Follows the entrance to the Basilica of S. Mark's (shoulders must be covered and shorts and mini skirts are not allowed). -Backpacks not allowed in both the Basilica and the Doge's Palace but can be left at the deposit. - St. Mark's Basilica may be closed without notice in case of unscheduled religious services and festivals. - Sunday morning the Basilica is closed for mass.
