Buongiorno! Nice to meet you! I am Abigail, a proud Italian with an English mother and Italian father. I am an Art History expert and I would love to share with you my passion for the two Italian cities I love the most, Venice and Rome! I have studied the history of art and painting in Venice during high school and then graduated with honours in Management of Cultural Tourism. I have always loved art together with travelling and discovering all aspects of culture. During my university career I experienced one year abroad with a scholarship in Spain and also took part in a prestigious internship with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, one of my favourite museums in town. Just after graduation I studied for my tour leader and tour guide licenses and then attended several art history courses in Rome and the UK. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is one of my favourite museums in Venice, a truly magical place with incredible history. During my university career I was selected for a prestigious internship together with other students from all over the world, that gave me the possibility to study its works of art from a very special point of view together with the history of the gallery and many anecdotes on Peggy Guggenheim's life. The collection is among the most important museums in Italy for European and American art of the first half of the 20th century. It is located in Peggy's former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal. The museum presents Peggy Guggenheim's personal collection with masterpieces by the most important avant-garde European artists such as Picasso, Braque, Ernst, Miro' and Magritte together with American abstract expressionist Jackson Pollock.
If you have any interest in art from about 1890 to the present, I would highly recommend this tour. Abigail is very knowledgeable, kind and professional. I finally feel like I have some understanding of 20th century art. The stories about Peggy Guggenheim, Max, Ernst, and Jackson Pollock add something new to the lore of Venice; I highly recommend it.
This was our second tour with Abigail and she once again was fantastic! Her expertise and friendly manner added much to our enjoyment on this return to trip to Venice. She is very conscientious and that was much appreciated. We learned so much from her! We strongly recommend any of her tours to first time or repeat visitors to Venice. ❤️
She was excellent, and gave us wonderful tutorials about the history of Venice as well as the nuances of the contemporary art we saw in the Peggy Guggenheim Museum.
Abigail provided a good background on the artwork we were about to see as well as the the building and Peggy Guggenheim. When we toured the museum we had a greater appreciation of what we were looking at. Abigail was engaging, easy to understand and answered all our questions thoughtfully. I would highly recommend her for your next tour.
Excellent guide who clearly has a passion for her subject
Abigail is one of those rare people who seems like she trained her whole life to be a guide of Venice. She is warm, very friendly; and very enthusiastic about the city of Venice where she was born, and about modern art in particular. She speaks impeccable English (mom is English).We had an excellent experience of the Peggy Guggenheim modern art museum. She explained concepts of modern art we've always found to be difficult to understand or appreciate. Abigail is superb and everything you'd want in a guide
-We'll meet at the entrance of the museum located at : Palazzo Venier dei Leoni Dorsoduro 701 (Accademia or Salute waterbus stop). -After buying the tickets we'll enter the garden and then the Palace to discover the masterpieces of the Collection. Medium/large size bags and umbrellas have to be left at the deposit (free of charge). Opening hours Daily 10 am - 6 pm Closed Tuesdays
