Ciao! I am Silvia. I am happy to "virtually" meet you here! This is a wonderful opportunity for me to let you know how much I love my hometown and how proud I am to have had the privilege to be raised in such a unique environment. Venice is totally different from all the other places you may have ever visited in your life; people here are different! Imagine fighting daily against the elements to survive on the water. . . well this is quite a challenge! I am here to help you to understand how this was made possible more than 1500 years ago! I am not only a Licensed Tourist Guide but a Tour Leader too. I have always travelled in my own life and worked as an inbound operator in Venice and all over Italy for more than 15 years, both things combined are definitely a "plus" because I have a strong attitude to problem solving and great experience inside and outside the office which is not always offered by the people working in tourism. I studied at the technical Institute for Tourism in Venice and then got my graduation in foreign languages always working in the tourism business since the very beginning as a hostess doing transfers. The aspect that I love the most about my job is that I always get in touch with new people and I can customize the tours for my clients: age, mobility issues, interests. . . it is always a surprise! All my tours are customizable, we can always make arrangements and adapt the tours to your needs before you book them. When you have a short time at your disposal or simply don't want to spend too much time looking for information, all you need is a native Venetian guide with extensive historical knowledge! From anywhere on Venice island the tour starts with a panoramic boat ride to better discover this unique city. Venice is on the water and this will give you the chance to better understand how life goes on here: on the Grand Canal and on some minor canals. After the boat tour we will explore together a lesser known and mainly residential part of Venice where you will learn about Venice origin and daily life. We will pass by the Rialto area, the commercial hub of Venice in the past. We will then reach St. Mark's square that was for centuries the civic forum of Venice and encompasses the most important buildings in town: St Mark's Cathedral, the Doge's palace, the Clocktower, the Belltower, and the Bridge of Sighs.
Silvia was right on time with a smile on her face! We heard and learned so much information about Venice: its history, people, culture, gondolas, food and even its cemetery! Her English is very good, we never felt rushed and yet we covered so much by both land and water. A GREAT tour, a WONDERFUL guide. We highly recommended her and Tours by Locals.
Our guide met us at the train station and provided an excellent tour of Venice. We started with a boat/taxi ride on Grand Canal and then to St Marks Square. Visiting many nrighborhood we saw things we had never seen in our previous five visits. She ended the tour where we were having lunch. It was a perfect day for us.

Silvia was a delightful guide through the history of Venice and the spectacular buildings of the Palace and the Cathedral.She created an thoughtful and efficient, jam-packed tour and expertly showed us Venice by water and land, incorporating a boat tour at the beginning that afforded great views and an opportunity to learn about the history. The combination of her inexhaustible knowledge of history, facts, architecture, legend, and myth (truly astonishing in its breadth and depth), was terrific.
So glad we found Silvia to show us around, especially on our first day in Venice. With her detailed explanations we were able to navigate the city with ease. Loved all her suggestions of food and shops! Learning about the history really made the city come to life and definitely improved our experience!
