My name is Minù. Venice is the city of my mother's family and I have lived here nearly all of my life. I have also lived in Paris, Vienna, Tehan and Berlin, and worked as a journalist for cinema magazines in Dublin and London. I am a graduate in Art History and Italian Literature from the University of Venice. Living in Venice gave me the opportunity to specialize in contemporary art with the Guggenheim and the Art Biennale where I started giving tours in 1999. In recent years the Pinault and Prada Foundations have become part of my tours too. As a certified professional tourist guide and resident of Venice I am eager to show you the historical, art and architectural features of my city. I'm a mom of twins and I know that visiting Venice with kids is not always easy, particularly in the rain. The city has so much to offer that there is always something of interest for every member of the family. I consider myself lucky living and working in such an extraordinary city, this provides me with an authentic living experience that I'm ready to share with you my visitor clients. The Ducal Palace, St. Mark's Square and the Basilica
Overview of your Venice tour
Piazza San Marco is the very heart of Venice and it has been its civic forum during centuries. The broad space, the largest in town encompasses the most important buildings including St. Mark's Church and the Doge's Palace. The first one was built in the 9th century as a burial chapel to host the relics of St. Mark the Evangelist and rebuilt later in the shape of a Byzantyne temple to became the national church of all Venetians. The second was in its origin a Byzantine military garrison transformed in the seat of the Duke of Venice until reaching the present shape to host also the seat of the Venetian government and the supreme court of Justice. A massive building to be the general prison was added and connected to the palace by the bridge of Sighs. Visiting these two impressive building you'll be introduced to the origins of Venice, its main historical events, its institutions and its art and architecture.

Minu's knowledge of the Basilica and the Doge's Palace is nothing short of encyclopedic! She makes the tour both fun and interesting with her exquisite descriptions. The fact that she gets to "skip the line" is not to be discounted either as you could spend most of the day standing in line just to see these two attractions. The trip across the "Bridge of Sighs" and the jail tour were also excellent. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for an in depth experience and not wanting to wait in line

In this tour you'll visit: ---the Basilica of St. Mark's and its gold shining mosaics indoors --- the Ducal Palace including the Duke's abode, the State rooms, the old prisons and the Bridge of Sighs. TO skip the line to the Basilica and the Doge's Palace we advise you to book your entrance ticket on line. SUNDAYS Morning and religious festivities the basilica will be closed and attended only for services. St. Mark's opening days and times: Mon>Sat from 9:45 to 2pm. Sundays from 2 to 4pm. Holydays from 2 to 5 pm
